CHRISTIAN BALE TO LEAD HISTORICAL ADVENTURE JANISSARY FROM DARA OF JASENOVAC DIRECTOR, SHARON STONE IN TALKS TO JOIN! SAMARA WEAVING JOINS KELVIN HARRISON JR IN CHEVALIER DE SAINT GEORGES MARIE ANTOINETTE COURT SET MOVIE

  CHRISTIAN BALE TO LEAD
JANISSARY HISTORICAL MOVIE
I think we are the first ones to break this news in English, but Gaga Antonijevic, who directed last year's Serbian Oscar representative
The production should start next year
Dara from Jasenovac, is preparing a massive new historical adventure JANISSARY based on real historical custom of the Ottoman empire to steal babies from occupied lands and then raise them as killer Janissaries who would then be sent to pillage their own villages often unknowingly killing their own mothers and sisters in the process. He has already set Christian Bale as the male lead in the film that he has been preparing for twenty years now.

Set at the end of the 16th century, the film will see Bale playing a Serb taken as a child to Istanbul where he becomes a pasha in their army. The sultan eventually sends him to his fatherland to end the Serbian rebellion and this is where he gets faced both with his past and with a moral dilemma of what to do.

Gaga has also revealed that he is currently negotiating with Sharon Stone to take the role of Bale's mother in the film. Bale, who is married to a Serbian woman in real life, has worked with the director on the script which should start shooting sometime next year in Serbia and Turkey.

 SAMARA WEAVING TO JOIN
CHEVALIER DE SAINT GEORGES
We mentioned the movie a few months ago, and now Hollywood Reporter writes that Samara Weaving has joined CHEVALIER DE SAINT GEORGES historical drama as opera singer! Kelvin Harrison Jr plays the
Samara Weaving will take the female lead
lead as Joseph Bologne, or the Chevalier de Saint Georges, also known as the Black Mozart. Born in the Caribbean, Bologne was the illegitimate son of a plantation owner and a slave who was then educated in France and became a fencing master, which served as an entrée into French high society. With his music and operas, he ascended to the upper echelons of Marie Antoinette’s Paris society until a court scandal laid him low. Weaving will play Marie Josephine, a woman who yearns for creative fulfillment outside of her empty, loveless marriage and defies her controlling husband to become the voice of Bologne’s opera. Stephen Williams is directing for Searchlight.

  2. I love Christian Bale but I don't think I want to watch a movie like that. Sounds too dark for me.

    1. Our history was very dark and needs to be told.

  3. I am a fan of Christian Bale...just hope they don't get Sharon Stone who is not my cup of tea.

    1. She is a very unusual choice, not because of years (women at that time had kids when they were 13-14 already), but because she is too glamorous to play a mediaeval village woman. But her name would be important for this movie and production.

  4. I’m with Angie on this one not loving Sharon Stone, bit the rest of it sounds promising. I imagine this film will be a huge hit amongst your countrymen.

    1. It will, the whole brutal custom is something deeply ingrained in the suffering of our people, it even became a part of our folklore, songs, poems etc.

  6. It's so amazing to hear about so much of history that is not well known, even though it can be dark. More and more movies are focusing on this. Thanks for the update. Hugs and Happy Sunday! RO

    1. Yes, the bloody Ottoman history is mostly hidden in the west, for two reasons, one, because the west does not give a damn about it, two, because Brits were their allies for a long time.

  7. I'm still thinking I want to live in a bubble and not acknowledge that these things happened. I remember being shocked during your last history lesson telling me that the kidnapped sons would kill their parents without even knowing. Reading it the second time still has me shook!

    1. They sure did, it is just a part of the historical pain ingrained in our national spirit. There were such tragedies in our history, such atrocities that we had to survive, that you just feel it in your blood even centuries after it happened. Even prior to enslaving us fully in the 15th century, they would constantly attack, pillage, kill and enslave dozens of thousands of villagers and take them to slave in Turkey, it was just horrible. And to save ourselves we even gave two of our princesses to be the wives of their evil sultans. Imagine that kind of sacrifice. I mean, even Dracula became so bloodthirsty because Turkish sultan kidnapped his brother and made him his gay slave for years.

    2. I can't even imagine it. I agree that it's important that we know these stories, but they're hard to hear. As much as I don't want to, it may be something that I force myself to watch.
