The series arrives to Movistar March 26th

spring, March 26th set in the 19th century Spain. Earlier this winter Movistar scored success with another period set series - time spanning saga
Tell Me Who I Am, and now they will try their luck with this series which features mostly outdoor scenes and had finished production exactly a week before the national lockdown was proclaimed in Spain last March. At the same time, while the new series is airing over at Movistar, a two hour movie will be released in cinemas ahead of Easter so the audience can pick which format to watch. They are hoping the release will give a boost to Spanish flagging box office.
THE STORY OF LIBERTAD
A woman nicknamed La Llanera (played by Spanish singer
Bebe) is released
in 1807, in the wake of the French revolution (which inspired Spain to
proclaim Spain a constitutional monarchy in 1812), from prison after 17
years

Simultaneously with the series, a film will be released in cinemas

spent in it. During her confinement, she had been sent to the
gallows every year only to be pardoned at the last moment. Her son Juan
(
Jason Fernandez) was born in the cell and does not know his father, the
famous bandit Lagartijo (
Xabier Deive). Mother and son will try to live
the freedom that has been denied to them for so many years while they
are persecuted by

The series depicts poverty and chaos ahead of the 1812 revolution
|
gangs of bandits and gunmen of the Governor.

(Isak Ferriz) and the Governor
(Luis Callejo) are
looking for La Llanera, but they are also looking for each other. In
19th century Spain there is no room for everyone, much less for
traitors.
Spain is a country rich in culture... the story must be interesting.

DeleteSpanish flagging box office. Aren't most box offices flagging these days? Well, maybe not Russia since they seem to have massive hits lately, but the rest? Almost dead in the water.
ReplyDeleteNot all, China is also doing well, even had some films break all time records this year especially now during the Chinese New Year holidays.
DeleteAfter living in confinement for 17 years with death lingering overhead annually, how do you just go back to living freely? I can't even imagine how hard that must be. Did they not let the son free or he stayed in prison his whole youth?
ReplyDeleteDon't know about the son, he was probably there to greet her as he rides very well which he wouldn't have learned if he was in the prison the whole time too. I've recently watched a clip with a black man who left the prison after half a century after serving the sentence for robbery as a teen and he was shocked by all the big skyscrapers which did not exist when he went in half a century ago. Other released convicts have their groups through which they greet, help and take care of eachother in accepting the new free life after the release.
DeleteI watch this documentary like series from time to time called "Behind Bars". Many prisoners end up back in prison after a short time simply because they can't adjust to a different way of life. Some even express feelings of fear to live the jail.
DeleteYes, that happens even to people in freedom who live long time without going out. My mom has it, and as someone who works at home I can say that I have a certain mild fear from hanging out myself, like I'd rather stay at home than go for a coffee or something. It's nothing serious, but nothing good either.
