AUSTIN BUTLER WILL
 TOPLINE 'SHANNARA' EPIC SERIES
In TV news today, after Poppy Drayton and Aaron Jakubenko, who will play Elven royalty in MTV's small screen adaptation of famous SHANNARA epic fantasy novels, the latest one to join the cast is Austin Butler from THE CARRIE DIARIES. He will play the lead role of Wil Ohmsford - half human and half elf - who discovers that he is the last of the legendary Shannara family.
KRYPTON SF TV SERIES
Meanwhile, SyFy will make Superman prequel TV series KRYPTON produced by DA VINCI'S DEMONS' David S. Goyer! Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracised. The story of this epic fantasy series will follow The Man of Steel's grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known!

'LUMEN' FANTASY SERIES
WYNN EVERETT JOINS THE CAST AS BESTSELLING AUTHOR
One of the fantasy series that we're expecting at the small screens next year, TNT's show LUMEN has added Wynn Everett to the cast. She will play the famous author of a best selling series of fantasy books who suddenly disappears, and a family of four finds themselves transported to the mystical alternate world that inspired her work. The series, which should start shooting next month in New Zealand, already has Sam Jaeger who will play the stepfather of 16-year-old Charlie whose obsession with finding the author thrusts his family into the surreal world of Lumen.

  1. I like Joseph Gordon Levitt but I don't think I could go see "The Walk" -- it would just freak me out. Plus it's in 3-D for gawd's sake! GAH!

    1. the trailer already freaked me out when he stepped onto that narrow metal beam! I get dizzy just walking near an edge of a roof

    1. I felt extremely uncomfortable too :) Especially since it was quite windy up there

  3. Krypton could be interesting, but I fear we're going to hit burn-out on comic book 'prequels' before long. I enjoy Gotham a great deal, but you could take Bruce Wayne out and the show really wouldn't be any different.

    1. especially since most of those comic book series are the same, I've been watching the new FLASH and it is so dated and poorly written, could've been shot in the 90s

  4. I haven't found many of my favorite fantasy novels to be well portrayed on the screen - LoTR the exception. I could watch just to see Austin shirtless though.

    1. the scary thing about this one is that MTV is doing it :( Will they turn an epic fantasy classic into a cheap teensy affair?

  5. At least in KRYPTON we know that Supermans grandfather failed, because the planet still went kaboom.

    2. I don't go out of my way to look for his movies, but I do think he is a very versatile actor. From a thug to a sweetheart, I think he embodies each role perfectly, I never have a hard time believing he is the character he is portraying.

    3. My problem is that I always see little Tommy Salamon from THIRD ROCK FROM THE SUN in him :)

  7. The Walk looks like a mind trip. When he looked down, I got dizzy. Can you imagine how sick I'd be in 3D. But the story is an interesting one. I often wonder what it is like inside the minds of people who do such daring things. The people who climb mountains, sky dive, set sailing records and explore the Arctic are a mystery to me.

    1. they are crazy people, the need to prove something that extreme is not a healthy one. We had an Everest climber in our city who died two years ago there, leaving family behind him. I don't admire them nor respect them.

    2. They don't seem to care about how it effects their families. There's the time away and the cost of these things is outrageous.

What annoys the Hubby about these people is that they are treated as heroes for being selfish. He goes on a rant whenever one is on the telly getting accolades.

    3. It is abnormally expensive, an official pass to climb Everest is up to $100,000! You could feed half of the country with that money.
Your hubby and me would have such blissful time ranting together about it :)

  8. Lumen sounds interesting. You don't get much proper Fantasy themed stuff. (GoT excluded)

  9. The Walk looks interesting, but who in their right mind would try a stunt like that?
