THE FIRST TRAILER FOR "PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES" WITH JOHNNY DEPP AND PENELOPE CRUZ

Ah, so the first trailer for next year's adventure PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES is here and it features mermaids, zombies and lots, lots of Captain Jack Sparrow, since it has become a two/three hour private show of Johnny Depp.
In this action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.
Directed by Rob Marshall the film also features two stunning young creatures Astrid Berges-Frisbey and Sam Claflin.

  2. Is it just me or does this have a huge overtone of 'milking the franchise' on it? It looks like an exciting movie, and I'll damn well enjoy it too, but it's just become 'The Jack Sparrow Show'. I fear that it may lead to darker things... like an animated TV show or something.

    @Jamie
    it's not just you, they are totally milking it :) I've stopped following the franchise after the first part.

  4. I haven't been interested in the Pirates movies since the first one, but Ian McShane huh? They sure get some great thespians in this flick, but still I probably skip this one again.

  7. It's one of them movies where I love the main movie, enjoy the lead role character (Depp in this case), but the rest of the movie never really grabs me. But need to give them a fair try first I thinK the trailer for this looks cool though.

  11. I saw the trailer yesterday just before the Tron: Legacy screening, I like the idea of Depp and Cruz somehow. Maybe I'll watch for these two when it's released.

  12. @J-SON: Yeah, I also like the idea of Depp and Cruz. I can't wait to watch it.

  13. I love the idea Blackbeard is in this one. Ian
    McShane(Deadwood fame) will be great! Enough already, though. I understand the premise of the movie; There aren't many movies one can take their family to; Animated, 3D seem to rule the theaters, these days.

    I agree milking it for all it's worth; I just hope Disney is using this as a marketing tool.
    I mean, I can see animated series. I think they are going bigger, think theme park in the works.

    @Morgan
    glad you like it, Morgan :)

    @Ella
    yes, there aren't many family appropriate movies these days, although I'm nut sure how appropriate this one is either :)

  17. Oh, visual and sound effects were superb. But I had an issue with its screenplay though. It is worth checking out for its aesthetic values Desmond, you might like it better than I did! =)

  18. they made another one??? jiminey! at least it looks like there's no kiera knightly- the worst part of the other ones in my opinion...
    but jack sparrow gets irritating to me...
    i'm betting the hubs will demand we see it though. but you are right: the music, sets, costumes, CG (davy jones), some of the actors- are terrific... it's just the rest. :P

    @Arlee
    you haven't missed much, Lee, believe me.

    @Lisa
    ah, you're in Depp's fan club? :)

    @Lyndylove

  23. Meh, the Pirates ship said a while ago for me....

  28. Yaaaah, just watched the trailer twice! I really enjoyed the first two films, they were a lot of silly fun. I didn't like the third one at all, but if this one keeps the spirit of the first two (a whole lot of ridiculous), I'm sure it will be great.
