HEATHER MORRIS MIGHT BE THE NEW "BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER". LILY COLLINS IN THE FANTASY SAGA "THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS". GREAT NEW POSTER FOR ROMAN EPIC "THE EAGLE"

A few weeks ago I've told you that the new film on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER is finally moving on with production and now there are first rumors on the possible lead actress: the buzz around the Net says that GLEE star
Heather Morris is currently the favourite choice at Warner Bross. With her talent for comedy and dancing, she is apparently the front runner up for the role.

Beside BUFFY, another teenage project has found its possible heroine. The film adaptation of the famous THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS fantasy saga by Cassandra Clare will have young Lily Collins (THE BLIND SIDE, THE PRIEST) as the main star. The film will follow a girl who discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of warriors dedicated to driving demons out of our world. When her mother disappears, she must join a daring group of young Shadowhunters on an adventure, which leads her through a city filled with mischievous fairies, eccentric warlocks, werewolf gangs and other strange creatures.

Next year's Roman epic THE EAGLE has just got a stunning new poster: starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Donald Sutherland and Mark Strong this epic follows a master and his slave who are trying to solve the mystery of the famous Ninth Legion which had disappeared in Britannia along with their treasured golden Eagle emblem. The two of them set out into
the vast and dangerous highlands of Scotland to confront its savage tribes and retrieve the hallowed Eagle. Along the way they will discover some personal secrets as well and will come face-to-face with the warriors of the fearsome Seal Prince (played by Tahar Rahim). You can also check out the trailer in one of HOLLYWOOD SPY's previous posts.

  1. I've not seen Morris in anything apart from the 2 seconds of GLEE that I may have seen on in the background somewhere. If she is eventually cast then I'm afraid it's not going to raise my interest levels in a Joss Whedon-less BUFFY remake although I suspect it will raise interest amongst the GLEEks - thus perhaps hinting at the direction WB are taking the franchise in.

    he he GLEEKs he he :))) Yep, I've never heard of her before either, but I'm personally not too interested in BUFFY so I'm partial to this :)

    @Liz
    ah, so that's the bait to lure you in :))

  4. I don't particularly care for the Glee girl, but I'm not a Buffy fan, either.

    But the girl for Mortal Instruments? I don't like the looks of her. :) Yup, being judgmental before 9am...

  5. I heard about the BUFFY remake a while ago and I don't know how I feel about it yet. It just seems too soon to be redoing the whole story.

    THE EAGLE looks very interesting, though! I love anything about the Roman civilization.

  8. Have an update for the Buffy casting rumor. Insiders at Warner Bros. insisted this is just a rumor and that discussions about casting won’t take place until after the script is finished.

  9. i still think that whedon-less buffy is a terrible idea- although man, can that gal dance...
    the mortal instruments series was such a page-flipping fun read! but the MC was so bland and ambiguous i think they could cast just about anyone.
    and you had me sold on the eagle a long time ago. :)

  10. Not having seen Heather Morris, I have no idea how well she'll do as Buffy...but why not?

    The Eagle looks entertaining. Love these movies w/ men in skirts.

  11. I enjoy the historical films like the Roman one, but I just cannot get too hyped up about all of these vampire films and other films about supernatural beings.

  12. I think Heather could pull it off; She is good on Glee! The Eagle, has potential for greatness, according to how it is shot and the story is done. Acting wise, cast looks great~

  13. That Lily Collins is stunning, she'd be good in a period film I think. I'd never imagine Phil Collins' daughter would look like THAT (no offense Phil :D)

    Btw, love the ornaments on your Hollywood Spy logo, Dez. Makes your site even more festive!

    too much eyebrows on her for your taste? :))

    @Emily
    your HOLLYWOOD SPY also likes anything Rome related :)

    @Mason
    glad you like it, Masy ;)

    @Matthew
    I knew you would like this one, being the expert on GLEE :)

    yep, that's why I said in the post that it is just a rumor :)

    @Vics
    I've found that in last few years, in the overproduction of books, there haven't been too many good MCs in novels :( Like music and films, publishing is also in a state of crises due to downfall of moral values and mass-production :(

    @Lisa
    ah, gotta love men in skirts :))

    you know I'm with you on vampire and YA projects!

    @Ella
    I'm glad you like THE EAGLE, Ella!

    @Alex
    I know you are!

    @Flixy
    oh, I didn't know she was Phill's daughter. Oh, Gosh, how I hate nepotism in showbiz!
    And thanks, you're the first one to notice that I have balls :) The Christmas balls!

  17. another Buffy! Wow... And are these Lilys and Lynns related to Jackie & Joan? Just wondering~ :o) <3

  18. Flixy just told me in her comment above that Lily is related to Phill Collins, but as far as I know Lynn isn't related to Joan or Jackie ;)

  19. I'm sticking with the whole 'Buffy is a bad, bad idea' thing until I'm proved otherwise. The mortal instruments sounds very interesting though, I'll keep my ears pricked for that.

    ReplyDelete
  20. yes, keep your ears pricked like us Elven people do :)

  21. Lily is indeed Phil Collins' daughter. Now Dezzy, just 'cause her dad's famous it doesn't always mean she has no talent. There are lots of famous actors' relatives who've proven their chops.

    Oh, I'm the only one who noticed your Christmas green balls? Right on! :D

  22. Buffy is one of them that never interests me, I don't know why as I normally love them sort of things. Now the Eagle on the other hand...with Tatum...I'm all for it ha ha. The movie that is.

  23. DEZMOND - The first Buffy movie was so, so awful. I'm not looking forward to this one.

    And, while I loved some of the characters in The Mortal Instruments - even loved her writing - the main storyline is something I'm not looking forward to. I was only able to finish the first three novels by reading the last 50 pages of the third book. Terrible, but true. Her characters were very well developed, though. I'm not knocking her as a writer. Loved her writing style.

    As for The Eagle, the idea of chasing down a statue sounds silly. I'm to understand that The Eagle was Rome (or something)? So between that and the dynamic between the two characters, I'm interested in figuring out what's the deal. Looking forward to this movie. =D

    yes, but if her daddy wasn't a famous millionaire and an artist, her talents probably would never have a chance to shine, which is the case with many other, less fortunate, mortals :( I generally can't stand nepotism, Will Smith for example ...

    @Agent Sanders
    I fully and totally agree with both of your statements, dear Sanders!

    @Shells
    well, I generally don't like YA literature so I will fully trust your assessment on this one, Shells.
    WHen it comes to EAGLE, Channing is trying to find his father who has gone missing with the 9th legion whose sacred emblem is the Golden Eagle.

  25. When it comes to The Eagle...did you happen to catch Centurion with Michael Fassbender??? Am I the only one who finds it interesting that The Eagle could be a sequel to Centurion if they really wanted to tie the two films together. (with the excpetion of one issue...that being, the eagle itself). Just a fun observation of mine that I found interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  26. yep, I watched CENTURION and I loved Fassbender and Imogen Pots in it. I think THE EAGLE will be more American and less European as CENTURION was. But I know what you mean, I've been reporting on both films for two years since they were in production more or less at the same time.

  27. this makes me sad... they should leave buffy alone. if it's not going to be a reunion movie with the original cast, i'm not sure i can handle it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. but, Kristin, the cast from the show wasn't the original cast, since there was a BUFFY movie in the 80's or something.
