SEE THE FIRST TRAILER WITH MICHAEL DOUGLAS AS BENJAMIN FRANKLIN IN APPLE TV'S NEW HISTORICAL SERIES

  APPLE REVEALS TRAILER
FOR MICHAEL DOUGLAS FRANKLIN SERIES
Franklin will stream weekly from April 12th
Today you can check out the first trailer with Michael Douglas in Apple's new historical series FRANKLIN which explores the story of one of the greatest gambles of Benjamin Franklin’s career. The launch date has been set for April 12th!
At age 70, without any diplomatic training, Franklin convinced France – an absolute monarchy – to underwrite America’s experiment in democracy. By virtue of his fame, charisma, and ingenuity, Franklin outmaneuvered British spies, French informers, and hostile colleagues, all while engineering the Franco-American alliance of 1778 and the final peace with England of l783. The eight-year French mission stands as Franklin’s most vital service to his country, without which America would not have won the Revolution. Ludivine Sagnier, Daniel Mays, Eddie Marsan, Jeanne Balibar and Noah Jupe also star.

  1. Ironic that in helping to create United States, France fell in such an economic deficit that the only way out was Revolution and the toppling of the monarchy

    1. Well they were better off without the kings! Long live revolution, although I am British in character and speech, so I defo would not support Americans in their war for independence as illogical as that may sound. Long live King Charles III!

  2. We're on opposite sides of the coin. I'd hate to live under a monarchy. I like that we can boot our leaders out at every election if we so choose. As much as I like some royal families, I find the institution of the whole thing a joke. Nothing more than paid circus monkeys for the public to gawk at at fawn over. I simply couldn't imagine any of our most recent past presidents having more than an 8 year rule. Hopefully the one we have now will be voted out this year.

    1. Yes, but British king does not rule anymore, he is just there to attract the tourist and be the symbol of the country, and Charlie really is a nice chap deserving to be the king and Camila the queen.

    2. I get that they have no real government roles, but that's why I think they are glorified circus monkeys. People are coming to gawk at their castle and jewels and posh lifestyles, and they get paid millions to do practically nothing. I find their choice of charitable initiatives to support rather dull and playing it safe to the vest, but then again, that's the same crap every one of our first lady's do too. Kate's parenting charities are as bland as Michelle Obama's school lunch initiatives. If you're going to rake in millions to just show up and smile at events, you're useless.

    3. It is not nothing, is it? Charles, Camila and Anne have between 300 to 700 charity duties every year, they inspire charitable deeds and are patrons of so many charitable societies. They range from helping poor people to science and finding cures for cancers and illnesses. They also represent a pride of the country, look at lovely Mary of Denmark for example or the queen of Jordan, pride and joy of their countries.
In my country it would not work, though, because we went through communism and socialism which cleansed us from any idea of monarchy, but that is mostly because we never really loved our kings much. I'd be proud, though, to have Mary, Raniah, Frederick, Maxima as monarch if I lived in their countries, even Charlie who is a decent chap.

    4. But it is nothing when the family is worth $28 BILLION dollars. Idc if they inspire their subjects to donate money when they roll up, dig a hole for a tree, smile and wave and walk away with tax payer money for doing so, while said tax payers can barely afford to put food on the table for their own families. While there are still homeless on their streets, people deciding between food and paying their mortgage that month, and inadequate access to mental health and substance abuse issues, they are a worthless family imo. I do like them, I think they seem nice, but to be adored and paid for existing still makes the monarchy useless in my eyes. It's like the idiots here that worship the likes of Paris Hilton or Kardashian. They do nothing for society, but are fawned over and paid millions because they were born into prominent families.

    5. But they are not paid, they have their own monies from the estates that they own, Charlie supports Willikins himself, they are not paid by the government. I do prefer Denmark where they don't have such a pomp around the royals, they did not even have the crowning of Frederick and Mary two months ago, they just signed some papers, and they never wear crowns, they are more modern type of monarchy. You would be surprised to discover how much exactly Charles brings to the monarchy every year moneywise. If they did not have the crown they would not have tourists either. Long live the king and the queen.
