CARMEN MOVIE TRAILER
A NEW CINEMATIC VISION
If I'm to be honest with you I must admit I expected something a bit different from this one, possibly something more of a fantasy movie, not for it to be this
much contemporary, but you can judge for yourself as today I have for you poster and first trailer for the latest movie adaptation of famous opera CARMEN! A modern day re-imagining of one of the classical operas should air today at Miami Film Festival and will open in Northern American cineams from April 21st in a limited release.

LOVE IS A BIRD THAT NOBODY CAN TAME
To
escape a murderous cartel, the captivating young Carmen (Melissa
Barrera) is northbound, her route traversing an area patrolled by the US
government and fanatical Americans who hunt people for sport. Mixed
into the horde is local veteran Aidan (Paul
Mescal), dragged into the
ignoble mission as a means of earning money for his impoverished family.
Soon, the star-crossed sweethearts intersect and, with hearts leading
the way, take the wheel with Los Angeles on the horizon. Carmen's goal
is to seek refuge in a nightclub run by an infamous family friend named
Masilda (Rossy de Palma) and bartender Gabrielle (Elsa Pataky). But as
the song goes, l'amour est un oiseau rebelle - and perhaps love may not
be enough when the laws of physics and men aren't far behind.

This should be a fun one! Both posters are pretty sexy.
ReplyDeleteI am a bit disappointed that it is not a period set or fantasy adaptation. But I do love Australian movies.
DeleteWhen I do housework I'll sometimes have YouTube opera extracts playing in the background - there were a couple of versions of Carmen featuring Elina Garanca in the title role and Roberto Alagna as the bloke "what done her in" that I was partial to. Of course there have been LOADS of good Carmens over the years, I'm just partial to Ms Garanca's interpretation. I've had a bad back since January so housework has sort of been put on the back burner (it'll still be there when hopefully I recover properly). That said, this new production of Carmen could be interesting. We got a fancy new movie theatre in my hometown around 2019 so this film might find its way there. The seats aren't cheap though so I'll have to see if they offer any deals.
ReplyDeleteTry to find the version of Carmen's most popular aria Habanera sung by Claudillea at YouTube, it is a modern twist of it, but a powerful voice.
DeleteSad to hear about your back, try to do back exercises every day if you can, I do some lying on the floor and stretching like a cat that get the spine in its place.
Idk if this is one for me. The dancing was intriguing but the rest failed to keep me interested.
