HENRY CAVILL TO LEAD THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE WW2 SET HISTORICAL ADVENTURE MOVIE! LIAM HEMSWORTH TO REPLACE HENRY CAVILL IN THE WITCHER SEASON 4

  HENRY CAVILL TO LEAD
MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE WW2 SET MOVIE
Beside the news that Serpent Queen is getting a second season and that Henry Cavill will be returning as Superman, there is another delicious info this Saturday:
Henrylicious Cavill will lead the new movie
the same unnaturally handsome hunkster will lead THE MINISTRY OF UNGEN TLEMANLY WARFARE WW2 historical movie adventure from Guy Ritchie. Eiza González will also star in the Jerry Bruck heimer produced flick.
To start shooting in Turkey this January, the movie, inspired by real events, will chart UK PM Winston Churchill’s and James Bond scribe Ian Fleming’s secret WWII combat organization. The clandestine squad’s unconventional and entirely ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques against the Nazis helped change the course of the war and in part gave birth to the modern Black Ops unit. Based on war correspondent and military historian Damien Lewis’ popular book of the same name, the movie will also feature a whole gallery of colourful characters.

  LIAM HEMSWORTH
TAKING OVER THE WITCHER
Liam will be the new Witcher
Speaking of Henry, Netflix has just confirmed that he will be leaving their THE WITCHER epic TV series after season three that has already been shot, and Liam Hemsworth will take over the role in season four. Season three is returning next summer. Here is what Cavill said: "In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find."

  1. Don't think I have watched any series or film from him...this picture reminds me of Jamie Dornan from 50 shades of grey.

    1. Blasphemy, Henrylicious is so much hotter than Dornan!

    1. I cannot for the life of me stand Ritchie, so I will solely watch it for Henrylicious.

  3. I read the Lewis book sad it's not a miniseries (sad about The Serpent Queen, but hey, with so much garbage in tv...) Henry looks scrumptious. Wonderful to know Little Eiza is going to be in it

    1. I have never heard of Eiza before. Henrylicious always looks scrumptious and so does Liam, both from Men's Health. They do best photos there.

    2. Eiza was a Mexican teen idol and soap opera star at the time I used to cover that world. She came to America to star in Netflix s From Dusk till Dawn and has been in some films in small roles. She’s thirty-two now, so it’s time to do something good.

    3. And they need a Latina in the cast to tick all the boxes.

    4. As it is, Latinos are still underrepresented in streaming and especially period pieces. In what I have seen in the last year, I can only think of Selena Gomez in Only Murders in the Building and my countryman Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian, and none in the period pieces we have watched in 2022.

    5. Methinks there were Latinos in Serpent Queen, Wheel of Time, Rings of Power, Witcher, Star Trek shows, Call me Kat, DMZ, Shadow and Bone, that dark girl from The Empress looks also Latino to me, but she might not be, I am not sure. Then there is the godawful Blonde and Ana Armas.

    6. This is a thorny subject, but let’s go over what I said and what I meant. A) I was talking about cable and streaming (Blonde is a film) B) I was talking specifically about 1922 period pieces (no Latinos in Valhalla, The Gilded Age and Julia) C) Compared to Afro-Americans, Latinos are undersold. We are the largest ethnic group in the United States. Afro Americans are only 13%of the population, yet they demand their presence shown in television and streaming. We’ve seen it in shows like Valhalla that is basically a British production, and you have a Black woman portraying a character than in real life was white and male. That doesn’t happen with Latinos, and we do not complain as Afro-Americans do when their boxes are not ticked. But let’s go over the shows you point out. Call me Kat is a regular Tv show but I see no Latinos in the cast. Checked the cast list of Shadow and Bones and Wheel of Time (both 2021) No Latinos there. No Latinos in The Witcher. Last night Ismael Cordova was brought to my attention. Indeed, he is Latino and a major character in Rings of Power, but he is of African descent. One way to tick two boxes is to hire Afro-Latinos which again do not represent us all. It’s like Rosario Dawson in DMZ and she is bona fide Newyorican like JLo. When talking about The Serpent Queen you may be referring to Adam Garcia who was in only two episodes. He is Australian born and bred. Having a Colombian father is hardly a qualification for being Latino. The guy doesn’t even speak Spanish. Viggo Mortensen is more Latino than he is. The “dark girl” in The Empress is Turkish. In fact, Turks and Asian actors are more common in period pieces than Latinos. And Latinos in major roles like Anya Taylor Joy in The Miniaturist and The Queen’s Gambit (2020) are very uncommon.

    7. But why would they have Latinos in Vikings? That would have been an agenda nor reality. Or at least pushing reality.
      Kat's boyfriend is very Latino.
You had Alvaro Morte in Wheels.

I agree that you are underrepresented compared to Blacks, but we can also say that Slavic people and many others are also underrepresented and tons of people in US have Polish, Russian, Balkan or Ukrainian blood in themselves. Also Hindi and Asian people. Point is nobody should be getting roles for their nationality or origin but talent and what character requires. I do not see the point of either Latino, Asian or Black actors in shows such as Valhalla, Empress, Sisi etc.Should the Chinese put white and black people in their shows too, or should Hindi shows include whites and blacks and RUssians etc. Latinos on the other hand, have so many of their own historical shows done in Spanish.

    8. By now it should be clear that when it comes to forced inclusion we are on the same page. But when you said that having Eiza in the cast was a box-ticking affair, you gave me the impression that you thought that force-feeding Latino actors to audience was part of the woke agenda. That is not the case. I am not demanding nor denouncing, I’m merely correcting that assumption, we are underrepresented but we do not complain about it. . And when I’m talking about underrepresentation, I’m making a comparison with Afro-American or Afro descent representation, not about Latinos vs. White (considering than in America “White Latinos” have different boxes to tick, literally.)
Initially, you were talking about actors now you are referring to characters. Obviously, there was no way to insert Latinos in Valhalla, and yet they had a Black woman playing a Viking jarl.
Again, I’m talking streaming, I’m talking period pieces. Call me Kat is a Fox contemporary sitcom in a regular channel. Alvaro Morte comes from Spain, he is European.

    9. But I'm sure you will agree that they really had to tick a certain box, in this day and time it would be unimaginable in Hollywood to have a white male lead with a white female lead, so they had to go for Latino, Black or Asian.

I did understand what you were saying and I agree with you. Who is larger in numbers in US, Latinos or Black people? I've never investigated the numbers, I was shocked to hear that there is less than 20% of blacks because it seemed from the woke agenda that it is fifty fifty.

    10. According to the last census Black people compose 13.6 per cent while Latinos are 18.9, the largest ethnic community in the United States.
      https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/PST045221
Remember when Variety made the tremendous gaffe about Anya Taylor Joy calling her a “person of color?” I’s because an average American (including those from ethnic groups) thinks Latinos come from Native American stock therefore they are “darker” than Caucasians. Militant groups are trying to augment the size of Black population by including Afro-Latinos. If you fill out a form, whether is to get a job or vaccination, you are asked to tick one of four boxes: White, Black, Asian, or Native American. I had to tick White since I’m neither Black, Asian, or Native. Immediately I got another box with the question “are you Latino?” The same happens if you tick Black (I have a Chinese Peruvian friend. I wonder which boxes does she tick).
If by asking about box-ticking you mean racial quotas imposed by woke agendas. Yes, it exists, but Latinos don’t fall into it because we have a different storyline. We do not demand roles because Latinos (and Jews) have been in Hollywood since day 1. The first sex symbols were either Jewish (Theda Bara) or Mexican (Dolores del Rio, Lupe Velez). In the 30s and 40s, while AfroAmericans only got servant roles, Latin actors were creating archetypes like Latin lovers and fiery goddesses with someone like Dominican Maria Montez who never played a Latina.
In the 90s when (under what we librarians called The Rainbow Agenda) they first talked of inclusion, this consisted in having more TV shows with Black and female leads, and there was a demand for more gay characters (gay, not trans, non-binary, etc.) Latinos, on the other hand, just demanded fewer negative stereotypes like being being portrayed as whores and drug sellers. We are still on that note, not part of this inclusion urgency because we are aware that a) we are far from monolithic and b) there are too many political forces trying to divide us, so we try not to fall in the game.
When you claim that the enforced biracial romances in television are part of that agenda you are right. When you claim that Latinos are part of that agenda, I would hesitate to agree since again it would involve the assumption of Latinos as “persons of color.” And for statistical purposes we are not seen in those terms (unless they are Afro-Latinos). It’s why Lucy and Desi were never seen as an example of miscegenation which at the time was a crime in many states
When we talk about the obligatory biracial romance, we are probably speaking about Shonda Rhimes productions. in general, I don’t see much Latinos mixed in these biracial romances and they either are portraying whites or are played by whites. In The Undoing, the main couple was white (Hugh Grant and Nicole Kidman), he’s having an affair with a Latina (played by Italian Matilda DeAngelis). In Scenes from a Marriage, Latino Oscar Isaac is married to Caucasian Jessica Chastain, but he’s playing (and looking the part) a Jew.
And I’ll need your help here. How many period or historical drama have these biracial romances (aside from Bridgerton that is Shonda’s territory)? And how many shows have Latinos mixed in the biracial romance craze you mentioned? I know you said Call me Kat has it, but I would like to know more since I don’t watch regular TV and seldom watch contemporary drama. I can only think of the disastrous reboot of Gossip Girl that played the interracial romance card ad nauseum, and among those affairs we had a white gay student seducing his Argentine teacher, so I guess that qualifies. This has been a very enlightening conversation.

    11. I cannot say since I don't always recognise which actors are Latino and which aren't . I thought for example that most of the Serpent Queen cast is, but it turns out the lady in waiting is Nepalese, and the Guieses are not Latinos either, methinks, although they look like it.
I did not know Anya Taylor Joy was Latino, I would not have guessed it even for million dollars LOL Isn't Anya Chalotra, the godawful one from Witcher also a Latina? Westworld also had Latino people, including our boo Rodrigo Me Santoro. Wasn't Spanish Princess' lady in waiting, the slutty one, Spanish too? But then again she had to be, while Charlotte Hope wasn't and she played a Latino royal LOL

    12. Let’s go back to page one since we seem to have a language problem. Latin, of course, comes from Latium, the part of Italy where Old Rome used to stand. In Europe, “Latin” or “from Latin extraction” refers to those coming from countries that were most colonized by Romans (e.g., Italy, France, Rumania, and the Iberian Peninsula).
In the American continent, and particularly in the Anglo countries, “Latino” is a description of people from Latin America, immigrants, children of immigrants and those from Hispanic speaking population that lived in what is now United States prior to English-speaking colonization
Spaniards, despite their Latin extraction, are not included among Latino/ Hispanics since they are considered Europeans, ergo “white.”
Your comment about The Serpent Queen reminded me of an anecdote related to when the Gestapo began rounding up Italian Jews. They were thoroughly frustrated since they couldn’t tell who was Jewish abd who was not. To their perception of Aryan looks, a land of brunettes and people a shade darker than the Germans had to be Jewish!
You think Latinos have dusky complexions, but Anya Taylor shows you the contrary and if you went to Argentina, you would be surprised by the different looks everybody has. We are a continent of immigrants; the mixtures are amazing. Anya’s father is Argentine but of Scottish extraction, her mother is half Catalonian. Anya was born in Miami (Latino city by excellence), she speaks Spanish with an unmistakable Argentine accent, she learned English when she was eight, culturally she considers herself Argentine. You cannot be more Latina than she is, despite having milky-white skin.
Anya Chalotra is Anglo-Indian. In fact, Hindu actors are well represented in period pieces. All those who struck you as Latinos in The Serpent Queen are Anglo-Indians (the De Guise Family). The girl that played Aabi is only half Nepalese, the other half is Ukrainian, and she was born and raised in Norway.
Nadia Parks who played Rosa in The Spanish Princess is totally English.
Although many consider including Brazilians (like your Boo Santoro) among Latinos a bit of stretching the truth since they have an different culture from Hispanic Americans, I do think of them as such In Westworld you also had Leonardo Nam, born in Buenos Aires of Korean parents but braised in Australia.

      Delete
    13. It is not because of Anya's looks but name, and I thought she was British since we first saw her in a British series. We do not consider Italy, France and Romania Latino here in Europe, just Spain and Portugal. But they do all belong to Romanic languages group.

      Delete
    14. How come only Spain and Portugal are considered Latin?

      Delete
    15. Sorry, I've been trying to reseach what you told me and cannot find data. According to Wikipedia and Britannica, Latins are those who come from Romance language countries, and Latino is a term coined in USA to refer to those who come from or have cultural ties to Latin America. Going back to what you are telling me. Does this mean that European countries use "latino"to refer only to Spaniards and Portuguese? What do they call Latin American inmigrants?

      Delete
    16. It is very logical, dear: we also use Latino for South America and it is logical to count Espagna and Portugal among the Latino countries as they are where all the Latino people came from to America.

I love when you have faith in me hehehhe.... Have in mind that Wiki and BRitannica are AngloSaxon sources, we do not consider Italy and Romania Latino countries, Latin yes, or as we call them Romanic, but not Latino, Latino are only Spain and Portugal.
We do not have a term for Latin or Romanic immigrants, why would we? When we say Latin we mean Italians, but that is a very rare term. We use Latino people term for people from South America and Spain and Portugal, Latin is just Italy and old Rome. The rest of Romanic language countries, Romania, France, Italy are just Romanic language countries.

  4. Why is he leaving The Witcher? I haven’t watched any of it yet. I do like Liam, but I find it hard to take him seriously after being engaged to Miley. His brother though, I’d forgive any such trespass lol.

    2. So, should I scratch Witcher off my watch list? The first season got such rave reviews, but I haven't heard anything about it since. If it's a sinking ship, I don't think I want to waste any time on it.

    3. You can give it a go, but I did not like it, in both seasons I liked one episode in each LOL It is just poorly written and boring and we don't even get a lot of Henry, it is mostly the godawful Jennefer and wimpy princess Cirilla.
