Harry designed the house, so it’s weird and wonderful, and impractical, and one more disorientation for Alice to go with her sense of loss and abandonment. Her beloved partner of 20 years is no more, and now she can’t find the fridge. If that were her only problem …
Family should be a source of comfort, but Harry’s parents, Minnie (Gemma Jones) and Gerry (Kenneth Cranham), keep popping round uninvited. Whilst Alice’s own parents, Roger (Nigel Havers) and Sarah (Joanna Lumley), only seem to add to her list of problems. 1. Imagine your house is such a maze that you can’t find the fridge?! This one looks odd but is somewhat intriguing. I’ve read articles about a house similar to this in the US, but I don’t remember which state.

    1. Judging by the outside shape of it, the inside is probably with inset elements, everything is probably hidden within the walls, thus her problem of finding the fridge LOL but at least it is not the loo.

  2. So, she didn’t have a say in what this dream house was going to look like and now she can’t find the fridge? Jason can’t even lay a rug without me standing over him giving him precise directions on how I want it and she trusted her hubby with designing an entire house. No wonder she’s got so many questions now that he’s dead lol

    1. He was probably an architect and it was his life project, I guess ;) Why can't the rug lay the way Jason wants it? :)

  3. Because he has no sense of style LOL. And he doesn’t care about home decor. I about freaking killed him when I came home one day and he mounted a 42 inch television in our bedroom. Not only do I believe a tv should never be in the bedroom, but he put up the biggest one he could find. Such an eyesore! He saw nothing wrong with it. I was seething until we redid the room (sans t.v.!) I don’t trust him with any decoration decisions. I’m home 90% more than anyone else, so things are going to be how I want to look at them.

    1. But such a big TV in the bedroom is perfect for watching some porn together LOL and getting inspired :) I hate pretty much anything that anybody does or changes in our house, so my life means suffering through design crimes and atrocities, which is very difficult when you are a clean person with specific and well defined and refined taste and style. I actually believe it is one of the things that will kill me, as the stress on a daily level burdens the heart furthermore.

    2. I have a hard time visiting people’s homes because I sit there and pick apart in my head what they need to update and change. I can’t imagine having to do that in my own home on a daily basis. You need to sit your family down and school them on what is acceptable decor for the home. You need to be surrounded with the finer things because you are posh and refined and shouldn’t have to suffer through tacky designs.

    3. I don't even talk to them anymore, deary. And it is not about the design, but about clutter and dirt and not my level of normalcy.

  4. That's the worst. I think that's why I had a mental breakdown with Leah living with us. Her dirt and clutter sent me over the edge. I am OCD about cleanliness and she was the polar opposite. I really feel for you having to put up with that in your home. You don't deserve to have to live like that. At least you have your own quarters you can retreat to where you know things are clean and posh and to your liking.

    1. Yes, it is like that, with the difference in the fact that I've been living with it for 40 years LOL
