The official beginning of the summer is being celebrated today with the premieres of two new period series which both start tonight: I've already presented you with Luminaries last week, but over at
HBO and
Sky channels in Europe you can enjoy tonight the launch of
PERRY MASON 1930s set $75 million worth series starring
Matthew Rhys. Based on characters created by
Erle Stanley Gardner, this drama series follows the origins of American Fiction’s most legendary criminal defence lawyer, Perry Mason. When the case of the decade breaks down his door, Mason’s relentless pursuit of the truth reveals a fractured city and just maybe, a pathway to redemption for himself.
What's The Story?
In 1932, the Great Depression grips the United States but Los Angeles
is prospering thanks to an oil boom, the film industry, the summer's
Olympic Games, and a massive evangelical Christian revival. Down-and-out

The Plot Of The First Episode

Not crazy about it, I also don't watch HBO or Sky. 🤷♂️ I do watch a lot of stuff. Too much, lol! 😃

DeleteI liked Rhys in The Americans so I'm looking forward to it. I read that he was excellent in the role and that they've made Perry Mason more than a one dimensional character.

DeleteThis description got me the first time, but even more so the second time. How does a whole country go into Depression with people starving, yet a large sitting lives like royalty? Flash forward to modern day. My MIL in Cuba reached out yesterday and told us the news that there is no food left there to get. We were all worried about toilet paper, yet a whole country full of people are going hungry!

DeleteCuba has corona too? I thought they might be spared. Our idiotic government has opened borders so we are up to a big daily number too. And what's worse they won election last night so we are all hopeless and want to throw ourselves off the cliff on a national level.
DeleteYes, They have been on quarantine for over a month now and the people are going hungry. It's terribly sad. I hope that you stay healthy! Are you all still wearing masks? We're entering phase 3 here on Wednesday, which means things other than construction will start to open up. Our numbers have become very low. The lowest in the country! Yesterday there was less than 100 new cases on Long Island.
DeleteMostly just shop assistants wear them, I'd wear them in a bus if I was using one, though. Measures here are eased because it suits our dictator who does not give a flying eff for the people, he won the set up elections yesterday even though corona hospitals are opening again in the capital city.

ReplyDeleteAs for the virus, our numbers are spiking again. You see where Trumpie thinks he can make the numbers of infected magically disappear by slowing down testing. Good grief! Most people here gave up on the masks. I even saw elderly and wheelchair bound people at the grocers yesterday not wearing them. Maybe like 25% of the people shopping had them on. I'm to the point that if I get it, I get it. I'm so over barricading myself indoors and suffocating through a mask when I have to go out.
It is like that everywhere, methinks, except on isolated islands. But nobody cares about corona anymore, you have your looters, we have evil winning set up elections agains, so there is hopelessness and despair to be found everywhere beyond the masks too, sadly. Wish we could stop this decade and fast forward to 2030s.
