All French people know General De Gaulle. The politician by turns visionary, liberator, peacemaker, builder. The statesman, bearer of a "certain idea of France", free, proud and independent.     'DE GAULLE'  EPIC MOVIE
STARRING LAMBERT WILSON!
Lambert Wilson leads the movie project on De Gaulle
Mean while, March 4th was supposed to be a cinematic premiere date for another project on the famous general: DE GAULLE a historic film in which he is portrayed by Lambert Wilson. I don't know if the date was pushed due to corona outbreak or not but it did earn almost $5 million so far around the world so I guess it did play somewhere. The story of that film is set in Paris, June 1940. The de Gaulle couple (Lambert Wilson and Isabelle Carre) is confronted with the military and political collapse of France. Charles de Gaulle joins London while Yvonne, his wife, finds herself with her three children on the road of the exodus.

  1. I'd be interested in watching these. I learned of this general on a very high level by reading the book The Nightingale.

On another note, we watched Extremely Wicked last night. Zac Efron did a fabulous job in it. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a quarantine must.

    2. He's the reason why I tuned in. He was like a totally different person. While the movie was about the murderer, it wasn't so much about his murders. The movie was from the perspective of his girlfriend at the time and how he manipulated her. Since she didn't believe he was guilty and closed her eyes to his crimes, you don't hear about any until the final hearing that she followed. So creepy how such a good looking, seemingly mild mannered, normalish man can have such a disturbing second life.

    3. I like watching him whenever he is a guest on Graham Norton, always fun to watch and very humble but not in a fake way.

  2. I recently read a book set in WWII in France and Charles de Gaulle was always mentioned in it, how he gave hope to the people during the invasion of people's homes by enemy soldiers. I can't wait to watch this to learn more.

    1. Me too, I don't know much about him, WW2 did give us a lot of great leaders who built up the world after the tragedy of war. But it was probably easier for them as they had disciplined people who understood their own duties, today's people are spoilt brats and idiots.

  3. I'd go see that movie if the theatres ever open again!

    1. They are educational, though, and I think we owe it to the heroes to watch the stories about them.

  5. Will add these to the list for Jason. I am sure I'll join him on this movie as I have the book Jax mentioned on my reading list. It's been recommended to me so many times, as soon as my library gets the digital back in stock, I'll be reading it.
