As Deadline reports, the series is inspired by Dickens’ original publication of the novel as weekly chapters in a newspaper, and set in London and Paris during the French Revolution. As Deadline reports today, Amazon has hired Simon West to direct new historical mini series BOUNDLESS about two 16th century explorers who set out to disprove the theory that the world is flat. Told in four episodes, it will be a story about Juan Sebastián Elcano and Ferdinand Magellan’s epic voyage around the world after they set sail from Spain 500 years ago. With Spain's national television as co-producer, the series, shooting this summer, will air next year on Amazon Prime. Last year, Spain had a rather beautiful animated feature Elcano and Magellan: The First Voyage Around the World which was strongly criticised in certain parts of the world for glamorizing the tyrannical colonizers.

Ashleigh Powell, who penned The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, is apparently writing a script for this one.

Meanwhile, Sam Mendes who is currently scoring all kinds of awards with his own WW1 movie 1917 has chosen Jess Walter's book BEAUTIFUL RUINS as his next production,  but he will not direct it himself. As 'Deadline' reports, the book is set in an Italian seaside village off the Ligurian Sea in 1962. There a charming young man runs a hotel with no guests, until one day an American starlet, fresh from the set of Cleopatra, appears and captures his heart. Five decades later in Hollywood, a jaded assistant to a powerhouse producer gets caught up in the magic of his story, and takes it upon herself to find a happy ending.

Another day, another film with bad accents :) First trailer has been released for Jesse  Eisenberg's WW2 movie RESISTANCE which is out in cinemas March 27th also starring Ed Harris, Clemence Poesy and Edgar Ramirez. Directed by Jonathan Jakubovitz, the film brings the story of a group of Jewish Boy Scouts who worked with the French Resistance to save the lives of ten thousand orphans during World War II. At the centre of the movie we find an aspiring Jewish actor whose desperate need to help the children leads him into the world of pantomime, and who will later and, thanks to this experience, become the legendary French mime Marcel Marceau.
