DeleteI'll keep my eyes peeled for it, though I haven't opened Netflix in quite some time. As much as I dislike the interface of Hulu, we've been catching up on a lot of shows there. I will eventually catch this there though!
DeleteNice to hear it, Last Man Standing wasn't overly great with the first two episodes of the eight season at CBS last week, Jen is becoming even more annoying than ever and Eve has become a beer drinking punk. Hope it gets better.

DeleteI got chills reading that description, but I'm not sure at exactly what part (could be the newborn death). Was this book translated to English? I would like to read it before watching the show.
ReplyDeleteMy grandparents on both sides are from Sicily. They have strange customs that makes me think I'm a descendant of a witch. When we are sick, they think they can yawn the illness out of you. We also have strong beliefs in the evil eye, aka malocchia.
I've no idea, try to google it :) I know the whole story is based on some unfinished found ancient scripts.
DeleteEvil Eye is definitely a true thing, in my country momas tie a red string around their babies' wrist to protect them from it.
Now you have me intrigued.. my ex's family was from Greece. They ward it off with spitting and prayers. We have different techniques in my family such as a horn and prayers. What is the significance of the red string? How do you get rid of it if you have it?
DeleteRid of what? Evil Eye? I think going to church and saying prayers there works if you, you know, believe in religion lol or you just visit a good witch LOL I think red string or piece of red wool, is also used by Jews and Hindus, it is a worldwide custom.

Deletesounds interesting. will keep an eye out for this. I confess, I did quite enjoy his Dark materials and Dracula, although currently working my way through The Witcher on Netflix which has me hooked :)
ReplyDeleteI tried Dark Materials and gave up on the second episode it was so desperately dreary and badly acted. The viewers in UK seem to confirm it given that all of their shows on BBC had terrible viewing this season, HDM dropped a million of viewers in the second episode and Dracula lost almost half of the audience in the second episode and the first one barely had three million viewers. They will have to fire someone on BBC methinks after the disaster of this season. Witcher is great, love its success.
