LEONARDO DA VINCI TV SERIES
TV and movie world have never been overly original, so why should we be surprised that another epic TV saga on famous painter LEONARDO da
Vinci is in works just a few years after legendary Da Vinci's Demons. The new series will be produced by Frank Spotnitz who gave us Medici Masters of Florence and they already have the lead star: Poldark's Aidan Turner will portray Italian Renaissance genius whose many creative talents included painting, sculpture, architecture, science, mathematics and engineering, starting from when he was a young man. The new series will give life to a young Leonardo and not the old man with a beard we all are used to see. He too had a first job, he too had a master… he too had frustrations and failures.
Each episode will focus on one of da Vinci’s masterpieces, inventions or projects as a means of capturing the man behind the creative genius.

'THE NORTHMAN' VIKING SAGA
RECRUITS ALEXANDER SKARSGARD AND NICOLE KIDMAN
Speaking of things epic, this one has epic potential too: the movie news of the day is that Alexander Skarsgard and Nicole Kidman might lead a new Viking era movie THE NORTHMAN! And they won't be lonely in the
cast as director Robert Eggers is also looking to book Anya Taylor Joy, Bill Skarsgård and Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe for the movie as well. Not much is known about the plot of the movie other than it is being described as a Viking revenge saga set in Iceland at the turn of the 10th century.

While I'm not overjoyed by the Leonardo show, The Northman has me a little excited! I've seen so many movies and shows on Leonardo that I'm afraid he's going to be the next vampire theme.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently thinking the same about Catherine the Great, they've done her so many times, this new one with Helen Mirren just seems stale and old. I just hope Aidan Turner will play him differently than he played Poldark, as I'm tired of that character after five years of watching it.

DeleteNot so much of Aidan, but Poldark, five years was enough, methinks, he needs a totally different role and I hope he will play Leonardo totally differently.
DeleteVikings I can get behind, but could we please cast a different female lead to work with Alexander Skarsgard? Nicole Kidman is so bland. A hard pill for me to swallow even with such a hunky leading man by her side.

DeleteOh! Aiden Turner: Leonardo da Vinci: might be one for me. Haven't seen any previous ones so I might like this.
ReplyDeleteTom Riley was really good as Leo in Da Vinci's Demons, but that series did not really focus on his work, it was more of a fantasy series.
