HULU'S CATHERINE THE GREAT SERIES WITH ELLE FANNING, NICHOLAS HOULT CASTS PHOEBE FOX! GLORIOUS TRAILER FOR SERBIAN EPIC WW1 MOVIE KING PETER I!

   CATHERINE THE GREAT SERIES
HIRES PHOEBE FOX AS COURTIER
Phoebe Fox will be Catherine's right hand lady
Although most of the attention is on Sky and HBO's Catherine the Great series with Helen Mirren, let us not forget that Hulu is also preparing THE GREAT limited series in which Elle Fanning is supposed to play (or at least try) the famous Russian tzarina at the time when she, as a very young Prussian princess, got married to Russian prince Peter (to be played by Nicholas Hoult) although she will mostly detest him later on, throw him over and kill him in the end. The latest name to join the cast is Phoebe Fox who will play her court lady Marial. Catherine and Peter's explosive relationship, filled with insanity and adultery, ended up with her organizing officers who admired her (or were her sex toys) and overthrowing him just six month after he took the throne from his aunt Empress Elizabeth. Actors Sacha Dhawan and Charity Wakefield have also been cast in unspecified roles!

   'KING PETAR I' TRAILER
FORGOTTEN TRAGEDIES OF WW1
Speaking of epic projects, first, deeply moving, trailer has been released for Serbian war epic KING PETAR I which, out next month in Serbia, depicts the tragic and heroic retreat of weakened Serbian army in 1915, after German,
The movie will be turned into TV series later on
Austro Hungarian and Bulgarian armies invaded the kingdom from all sides following Serbia's heroic efforts to stop the enemy in successful battles at Cer and Kolubara which were some of the first major battles of WW1 but have cost Serbia around 170,000 people even before the exodus. The Serbian army, lead by Serbian King Petar I (Lazar Ristovski), retreated through the frozen mountains of Albania in order to save its remains. During the long march, some 240,000 retreating Serbs died from the cold, starvation, disease and combat with Albanian tribesmen. The survivors who managed to get to the Greek island of Corfu either died there from weakness, hunger, wounds and illnesses, (which is why Serbs call the sea around the
The film also follows a Serbian mother who asks the king to take warm socks she knitted to her young son who is lost somewhere among hundreds of thousands of retreating soldiers. The king finds him too late, already frozen somewhere along the way but will ask to be buried in those very socks years later after his own death
island the Blue Tomb as the island is small and the dead had to be thrown into the sea, thousands of them) or moved to the Greek front where they will join the fights again. French and British allies sent ships to save the survivors only after Russian Emperor threatened that he would leave the war if they don't help Serbs.

  1. What catastrophic battles for the Serbs!
I suppose the russian emperor who insisted that the French and British help the serbian survivors, got to be honored with some statue and street name in Serbia.

Judging by the trailer, the acting is first class.

    1. Indeed he had been! That's the emperor that got killed by the boylseviks later on with his entire family, Anastasia included. He has a monument in Belgrade in King Milan Street at Aleksandrov Park. It is possible you've even seen it :) They've put it in the place where the embassy of the Russian Empire once was.
      It's actually quite a beautiful statue: https://gisabogunovic.yolasite.com/ruski-car-u-srpskih-vladara.php

    2. Yes, Sir! I saw it. You haven't mentioned his name (Tsar Nikolai 2 Romanov). So, I browsed through my photos and find the statue. It's across the street of the two palaces and the charming pionirsky park. Beautiful statue indeed!

    3. I think we got the statue from the Russian Army as a gift and decided to place it there.

  2. The Serbs owed a huge debt of gratitude to the Russian Emperor who insisted the Brits and French help or he'd pull out. I'm glad to hear they honored him with a monument. I can't imagine fighting the war, trekking through the cold, then having to rejoin at the front lines again. What a living hell :(

    1. and not even being greeted there by help which arrived only after good old Nikolai Romanov threatened to close peace with the enemy if the Allies did not help us. After that, when the French finally arrived with boats and doctors, most of the Serbs were dead, and the survivors were healed and then sent to Thessaloniki front which they will help break and win the war. No wonder only one third of all boys and men returned to their villages and towns in the end. We have a movie Tears for Sale in which a village is left without any living men and crazy women all try to seduce the only, semidead, grandpa left in their place in order to conceive a child and save the village from being eradicated. It is a bitter comedy.

    3. indeed, and I haven't even told you that prior to WW1 we had three Balkan wars with the Bulgarians (crashed them all three times but it left us totally decimated and weak and ruined ahead of the WW1) and prior to those we spent 500 years as Turkish slaves. It never rains here but pours....
