  1. Alien invasion movies, popular since the post war, beginning of Cold war era - are a fascinating genre.
The lovely couple in the picture, trying 'to defy society while facing the terror of alien invasion' - make this movie sound interesting and worth watching.

    1. they did really do an amazing casting, both Rafe and Eleanor are wonderful, beautiful and charismatic, it will be a delight watching them.... Too bad Carlyle is in it too... cannot stand his overlydramatic creepy approach to roles.

  2. Sounds good, mainly because it's set in an unusual era for such stories.

  3. The outrage if books were banned here and now. I had some lady rip into me when I worked in a bookstore. We had to rip the covers off paperback books to mail to the vendors for credit when they didn’t sell. I got an earful on how many people could benefit from those books and I was evil for destroying them. Imagine how loony people would get if we started burning all the books!

    1. You is ever so ebil, dahlink, I swear you is :PPP
But, seriously, why would you need to rip them, isn't there any other solution? They really could give all them books to libraries, schools etc.

    2. You would think we could have just sent an inventory report for credit, but for some reason they wanted the covers back and the books recycled. I think they didn't want to pay for the postage having the entire books sent back. I do agree that they could have been put to good use elsewhere, but it wasn't my policy to rip up the books. She should have called corporate and gave them an earful, not me!

    3. ooooh, if they're getting recycled then it makes sense. I do love recycled paper more than the white one.

    5. Indeed! And the colour is better when it is more yellow than white. I've recently bought an old book on one of the Russian tzars, and it was printed on silky byblical paper ... I don't recall when was the last time I've seen that paper in books. In my country we don't even do hardbacks any more, just cheap paperbacks to make the printing cheaper and more affordable for the publishers. It is very sad...
