you will like them both! You might also like The Miniaturist as it is mildly creepy :) but I did not like the new Little Women so much. I've started Tom Hardy's Taboo too, so far very weird
I am also looking forward to The Miniaturist. It did have that weird, creepy feeling in the trailers, so it was definitely on my radar. Is Taboo very weird good or very weird bad? Do we need to skip that one?
I watched just the first episode, watching the second one tonight. The first one wasn't exactly bad but it was very dark and it was very obvious it was made with the sole purpose to be dark and for Hardy to act all weird and grim because he is one of them nasty bastards with issues that needs some torture porn and weirdness to be happy in his life :) I will give it a go a few more episodes before Britannia starts later this month.
Let us know when you are a few more episodes in if we should add it to the watch list. I don't like shows that are dark just for shock value, so if it continues on that path, I'll definitely skip it.
I've finished episode four last night, will watch two more this week. It is watchable, but very slow. It is very much dark because those times were pretty much nasty, dark and lawless and he stood up against the king, the West India company, against Britain and even AMerica. The premise is interesting (he inherits a strip of land over in America which is a key point for trade and who has it controls all trade between continents) but it could've been done a bit more dynamic. Hardy is naked half of the time.
Historic is big these days! This looks great~ How are you Dezzy? I have missed you and your Hollywood insight! Cheers to 2018~ I am hooked on a Syfy series called The Magicians.
GIVE SOME LOVE TO YOUR DEZZY :) DON'T FORGET THAT BLOGGER'S NEW COMMENT BOX OFTEN REQUIRES FOR YOU TO DISABLE PROTECTION ON YOUR BROWSER IN ORDER TO COMMENT.
I am looking forward to catching up on Jamestown. Along with Harlots, those were the two new series last year that I was most excited about.
ReplyDeleteI loved both. I thought I wouldn't like Harlots as much as I did, but it was very nice
DeleteGood to hear they get the Dezzy seal of approval!

ReplyDeleteI am hooked on a Syfy series called The Magicians.
We had posts on Magicians in previous years, I haven't watched it, though
DeleteDon't know Jamestown, but it seems to be atmospheric and very interesting, great period and costumes...
ReplyDeleteThe first season was amazing, I think you would really like it, Phillie!
DeleteI will have to add this to my list of shows to watch. I do love a good historical drama.
ReplyDeleteit was my fave last year next to Medici Masters of Florence! Last Kingdom, Poldark and Victoria were also good.
