'BANISHED' EPIC TV SERIES
 18TH CENTURY PENAL COLONY
Two period set projects for you today, starting with the first character photos and a trailer for new British historical television series BANISHED which should start airing in seven hour long episodes at BBC2 from Thursday March 5th! This epic series will be deeply character driven with the story following the lives, loves, relationships and battle for survival of a group of convicts, the soldiers who guard them and the men who govern them in the early days of the penal colony established by Britain in the 18th century in Australia!

DAVID WENHAM, RUSSEL TOVEY, ORLA BRADY LEAD THE CAST
Actress from 'Ripper Street' MyAnna Buring stars as English criminal Elizabeth Quinn, sent to Australia in 1788 after punching a woman who turned out to be a Duchess. During her voyage to the other side of the world, she falls for fellow prisoner Tommy Barrett (Julian Rhind-Tutt). Our beloved 'Being Human' and 'Looking' star Russell Tovey will also portray an English convict abroad, joining 'The Paradise' star Joanna Vanderham and 'Doctor Who's' Orla Brady in the Australian penal colony. Australian actor David Wenham (Lord of the Rings, Van Helsing) plays Arthur Phillip, the idealistic governor of the settlement.

FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD
GORGEOUS SECOND TRAILER
There's also the second trailer for the big screen adaptation of Thomas Hardy's literary classic novel FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD which should come out this May starring Carey Mulligan as heroine Bathsheba Everdene who finds herself torn between three very different suitors played by Matthias Schoenaerts (a passionate sheep farmer), Michael Sheen (a prosperous bachelor) and Tom Sturridge (a handsome sergeant)!

  1. Ha! She punched a duchess. Banished is something. Far from the Maddening Crowd's trailer has pushed all the right buttons. I'm temped by the shepherd and the bachelor.

    1. and we do love Mr. Schoenaerts.... not that we can pronounce his surname..... The better thing would be to pick the rich one and be able to buy yourself tones of farmers :)

    3. See, Dixie loves those dirty ones too. Though I could go without the sheep smell. We'd have to stock up on Dove soap for the little farmer.
