ZACHARY QUINTO, BRIAN COX JOIN PETER SARSGAARD IN 'THE SLAP' NBC TV SHOW! ALEXA DAVALOS FEMALE LEAD IN 'MAN IN HIGH CASTLE' SF SHOW! RAMI MALEK LEADS 'MR ROBOT' TV SHOW! 'COUCH DETECTIVE', 'NUCLEAR FAMILY' NEW ABC SITCOMS

ZACHARY QUINTO
TO GIVE 'THE SLAP' IN NBC'S CONTROVERSIAL MINI SERIES
After an extremely slow beginning of the week in the movie news business, some TV updates for you today, people: 'Entertainment Weekly' writes that Zachary Quinto has joined the cast of THE SLAP eight episode mini series, which will be NBC's US version of Australian hit TV show. It's a complex family drama about what happens after a man slaps another couple’s misbehaving child. Quinto will play Harry, the slapper, married, with a 15-year-old son, a mechanic/dealer specializing in expensive European cars, lives with his family in a Brooklyn loft. Perennially angry but seemingly pleased with his life, Harry is a staunch believer in family and loyalty and never shies from picking a fight. However, Harry picks on the wrong guy when he slaps the horribly misbehaving child of another couple. Brian Cox will play a peacemaker in the family, with Peter Sarsgaard and Mary Louise Parker also in the cast.

SHORT TV UPDATES
RAMI MALEK IS 'MR. ROBOT'
USA Network has chosen Rami Malek as the lead in their new TV show MR. ROBOT in which he will play Elliot, a young programmer who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them.
NEW SITCOMS AT ABC
ABC has bought two new comedy series: COUCH DETECTIVE, about the exploits of a 30-something female “couch detective” who solves crimes based on her encyclopaedic knowledge of every true-crime TV special, police procedural and made for TV movie. NUCLEAR FAMILY, will, on the other hand, follow a pair of self professed altruists who adopted eight children from all over the world, some with special needs. Having bit off way more than they can chew, their radically different parenting styles have created a hurricane of teenage dysfunction, at the centre of which is their often overlooked only biological child.

THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE
ALEXA DAVALOS IS FEMALE LEAD
Meanwhile over at Amazon, Alexa Davalos has been cast as the female lead in their upcoming TV show THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE, the small screen adaptation of Philip. K. Dick's novel which explores an alternative reality in which Nazi Germany and Japan won World War II and occupy the United States, with the East Coast controlled by the Nazis and the West Coast owned by Japan, and a chunk of the Midwest still up for grabs. Davalos will play Juliana, who lives in Japanese occupied San Francisco. She is fascinated by Japanese culture and has mastered the art of aikido, but her personal state of truce with the Empire Of Japan stops forever when her half sister Trudy is shot dead in front of her eyes by a Japanese soldier. Entrusted by Trudy with a black satchel containing a vital pro- Resistance propaganda film, Juliana heads east for Colorado, the secret headquarters of the Resistance, and the road ahead of her is very blurry and very dangerous. I've informed you recently that Luke Kleintank is the male lead.

  7. "The Slap" sounds intriguing. I'm sure it involves (at the very least) a criminal prosecution for assault? Or perhaps the kid's father goes all psycho and vigilante stalkerish, out for revenge? The possibilities are endless.

    1. I'm sure the kid deserved it.... it was probably a lil' bully of some kind.... When I hear all those screaming brats in the malls I'm often tempted to give out a slap... but not to them but to their parents :)

  8. I agree. I wanna slap a lot of parents because of their kids. My niece is a holy terror and her mom thinks she can do no wrong. Allison was playing hide and seek with her one day and she got angry because Allison hid well and she couldn't find her. The niece came crying to the mom that Allison was "teasing" her. Instead of getting the whole story, the mom angrily yelled "Allison, stop teasing K!" I bit my tongue real hard, but it's times like that, I just wanna slap the piss out of stupid parents. And this child has to go to therapy for her outbursts at school. Well, if she would get properly disciplined at home, she probably wouldn't have those issues to begin with!

    1. I wish there was a slapping police who would give out slaps to the parents of misbehaving brats :)
In the case that you described, methinks you should always say something and protect your kid even if it means offending your cousin... I mean if she doesn't care about your feelings, why would you care about hers... as long as there are passive people there will be idiots who will actively molest them...

    2. I probably should have said something, but since it's on Jason's side of the family, I figure I should try to keep the peace, but avoid long gathering with them in the future.

I would give up my job as a stay at home mom in a heartbeat if I could join the slap police force hahahah!

    3. me too! I'd arrest Bieber and slap both his southern and northern cheeks.... the brat deserves it... and I do too... :))

  9. Sometimes I don't see how a concept can carry an entire two-hour movie--that Zachary Quinto movie is one of them. He slaps a kid, the parents get mad, it makes news, Dad seeks vengeance, roll credits. Instead, I know the "Dad seeks vengeance" part will go on for an eternity!

    1. that won't be a movie, but an eight episode series :)))) I'm guessing it won't make news, but it will create all kinds of tensions between the two families and reveal who knows what kind of secrets....

  10. What a interesting variety of shows there. Zachary is another actor who can pay such different roles.

    2. PS I'd love a sitcom in which she and Tim Allen would play a married couple :)

    3. The guy who invented email, I heard but I didn't get to see his face. I think she's busy also with a play, my mom told me.

I have two more episodes and then my Nanny marathon is over.

PS: Yes, I could see her and Tim Allen together in a show. I'd watch that.

    4. I've seen his face... not a handsome man :) but if he is a good person it doesn't matter.... She had a gorgeous one and he ended up playing for the other team LOL
I love to watch Tim's LAST MAN STANDING... can't wait for the fourth season to begin next month.... it's very old school which I love....

    5. That's right, her high school sweetheart. I watched them both in an interview talk about that time in their lives.

      Haven't seen Tim's show yet.
