INTRIGUING TRAILER FOR SF FILM "OBLIVION" WITH TOM CRUISE & OLGA KURYLENKO! 20TH CENTURY FOX'S EPIC ON GERMAN WARRIOR "ARMINIUS" WHO DEFEATED CAESAR

Since you know that HOLLYWOOD SPY is the place for all things epic, we couldn't possibly skip this piece of info: according to "Deadline" 20th Century Fox will shoot epic film ARMINIUS, which recounts the tale of a famous German warrior who stood up to Augustus Caesar's Roman army. To be produced by Wolfgang Petersen, the film will follow the title character, a German who was trained as a Roman warrior before defecting back to his homeland when Rome decided to conquer Germany. At just 25 years of age, he managed to unite the separate German tribes and lead them into the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. The Roman's defeat at the hands of ARMINIUS is said to be the worst ever under Caesar's rule, which put an end to the Roman Empire's northward expansion.
A monument was erected in his honor in 1875, which still stands near the Teutoburg Forest in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region of Germany.

  2. Arminius sounds incredible! You know I'm all for it. And what a cool trailer. Not a huge Cruise fan, but this looks interesting.

How are you? Surviving the blizzard in good condition, I hope.

    1. You know I love me epics, wish they'd cast Fassbender or maybe Til Schweiger in it :) I'd settle with Thomas Kretschman too :)

Ah, don't ask, whole Vojvodina is snowed in, there were 10km lines at the roads, some lady even gave birth to a baby in the middle of the line of snowed-in cars... crazy times.... It stopped snowing today, but most of the streets aren't clean as usually.

    3. snow cannot stop me, darling, I'm putting on my fancy knee length black jacket with fake fur hoodie on me back tomorrow and going shopping for oranges and lemons, because that's what I feed on :)

    4. what scared me though today is that the third biggest city in Vojvodina, Zrenjanin, had electricity down due to snow. Imagine not having power when it's minus 10 outside and the streets are snowed-in :(

    5. Keep safe. Do you have generators? Candles? Oranges and lemons are good to have around. Be careful and stay warm, sweetie. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

    6. of course we don't :) Generators are what only you in USA have :( But I don't think we shall have power out here. I'm venturing out to the city tomorrow on foot :)

    7. Without power in those temperatures people will die. This is shaping up to be a national disaster.

I'd like to see a pic of you in your coat darling.

  3. I haven't seen a Wolfgang Peterson movie since Das Boot many years ago, which I loved (in a conflicted kind of way). Although now that I think of it, didn't he direct some American movie not that long ago that didn't do very well?

    1. If I remember correctly he also did that horrid flop TROY choosing frigid Diane Kruger for Helen, stiff Orlando Bloom for Paris and woody Brad Pitt as Achilles :) The only good actors in it were Eric Bana as Hector, Brian Cox as Agamemnon and Peter O'Toole as king Priam

  4. Arminius sounds intriguing and the visuals could be really stunning on this one. Who will they cast I wonder? That's a young character and there is a good crop of youngun's that are up and comers.

Too bad that freak Cruise is in Oblivion because the storyline sounds good. I won't see it because really, I can't financially support someone like him.

    1. You have my choices in my comment for Melsy :)
My thought exactly, Annzie, I deliberated for an hour or so whether to post the trailer or not (I was closer to the second choice) but Sunday is so dry with the news that I had no other option :( I'm supporting my dear Olga in it.

    2. Eventually Cruise will become box office poison and he won't be around, unless he produces them himself. I hope no more women are dumb enough to marry that freak.

    3. It is strange how he still brings money :( People are just irresponsible in choosing their stars.... Both Holmes and Kidman were paid to marry him, but Kidman was stupid enough to leave him their adopted kids, while Holmes managed to take Surry with her.

  5. I will be keeping an eye out for Arminius - this could be a good one! As for Oblivion, I totally love post-apocalyptic moves - but it's too bad Tom Cruise is in this one; no matter what character he plays, I can't seem get past the fact that it's him. I wish we'd see more unknown actors in key roles - makes it so much easier to buy into the whole premise.

    1. yep, my dear, whenever we see Cruise we see scientology and a madman :(
Ah, I know, HOLLYWOOD SPY always fights for the new name, and we've been known to have helped promote a number of new names in the past :)

  6. As a history person, I am very excited for ARMINIUS

  7. You know I'm curious about Arminus. They should do an epic on Boudicca too, though that ends sort of tragically. :(

Sorry to hear you are snowed in and freezing. We are having the opposite problem, a terrible drought. No rain or snow for months it seems.

I shall send the blizzard over to Colorado as soon as she finishes her job here ;)

  8. I was a bit wary of Oblivion because Cruise was in it, but I like the other actors and wow that trailer makes it look good.
