Ah, it seems that after choosing a number of very serious roles (some even about serial murders and tragic accidents), Reese Witherspoon has found a project in her trademark genre - a romantic comedy. Following the success of their self-help book movie adaptation in WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING, Lionsgate is now
preparing a film version of MEN ARE FROM MARS, WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS. Reese will take one of the roles in the story that loosely follows the guide to relationships from John Gray's self-help book about the differences between genders. To be based on one of the best-selling non-fiction hardcover books of all times the film should start shooting next January.
HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
According to "MovieWeb", Barry Sonnenfeld from MEN IN BLACK is attached to direct DC Comic's movie adaptation of THE METAL
MEN. The story of the project which is still in very early stages of preproduction, centers on William Magnus, an artificial intelligence expert who creates six different cyborgs, each made of a different metal on the periodic table. Gold is the leader and can stretch his form in an infinite number of ways. Iron is the muscle of the group, and Lead protects the group from radiation. Mercury can melt and slide into the tiniest of spaces, Platinum, the only female, could stretch or flatten her form, and Tin is the insecure cyborg.

CELESTE AND JESSE FOREVER
And your trailer for today is the first clip for romantic dramedy CELESTE AND JESSE FOREVER which should hit theatres later this year starring Rashida Jones (PARKS AND RECREATION), Andy Samberg, Emma Roberts, Elijah Wood... The romantic film, written by Rashida Jones herself, revolves around a young couple in the midst of a divorce who attempt to maintain their friendship while pursuing new relationships and they try to separate in the most amicable way possible.
There's just something about Reese Witherspoon that I really like. I don't know if she's sweet in real life but I find her personality appealing on screen.
ReplyDeleteI'll be back to watch the preview. The family is watching the end of a Clint Eastwood flick....
methinks, she's sweet in real life too :) I think most Americans like her because she is very ordinary and thus non intimidating :)
DeleteI think you're right about Reese, she just seems so down earth.
DeleteSo, if the trailer made me tear up, what will the entire film make me do? I'm hooked already, Dezzy.
it's one of those small films that make you feel nice when you see them since they are usually optimistic.
DeleteGuess what we started watching last night, Dezz....Griff the Invisible. So far so good =)
Deleteaww, that's a cute film!
DeleteI know, my daughter and I are enjoying it immensely! Her friend came in for the weekend so we will finish it up on Monday....
DeleteSurprised it took them this long to make a movie on that book. It is only quoted a billion times. Tin is insecure haha flying monkeys did it.
ReplyDeleteit should be a fun movie with all that metal :)
DeleteMaybe it will vibrate for some too
Deletewho knows... hope Platinum will like the vibrations...
DeleteJohn Gray - yeah, that was my first thought, that's a church read book, how can they take a movie from that book? Maybe documentary - but movie impossible. Guidelines from that book?
ReplyDelete"Hollywood nitwits, you cant live with their crap, you cant live without their crap"
It is not a self-help book, please, self-help books are pathetic.
Andy Samberg one seems to be cool.
the story will just be inspired by it, like WHAT TO EXPECT was :)
DeleteI've never read a selfhelp book myself...
I'm kind of 'meh' on these, but I am hoping to get out to see BRAVE this weekend. Should be a good one. :))
ReplyDeleteoh, BRAVE, yes, the film of the year :)
DeleteThe actress who plays celeste is my dream wife!
ReplyDeletethat's Rashida Jones :)
DeleteThe metal men thing looks pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteyep, it could be quite interesting to watch if they cast some hot young stars in the roles....
DeleteDezzy - I'm in love with Reese's shoes. So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteand the dress is pretty too :)
DeleteI love Reese and she is really good in romantic comedy films ~
ReplyDeleteThat trailer is so cute and funny ~
glad you liked today's romantic news, Grace :)
DeleteWhat is it these days with lame movies made from even lamer self help books? I hope Reese does more Legally Blonde type comedies. I won't be watching her this one. Honestly, the book is a hundred years old and no longer relevant.
ReplyDeleteRashida is pretty talented and the movie looks good.
Metal Men sounds interesting, but if DC is going to go after Marvel, they need to start making films with the heroes people outside the incestuous realm of comics have actually heard of. Like Wonder Woman, ;)
maybe we should write a selfhelp book, I feel money is hiding there :)
DeleteNot sure if Wonder Woman will ever happen, and if it does I have a feeling they will cast some awful wimpy actress :(
Celeste and Jesse Forever looks funny, not sure about Andy Samberg though. Didnt see him as much of an actor
ReplyDeleteyep, he seems a bit weird for a lead role...
DeleteOh, I really like Rashida Jones. I can't wait to see that one.
ReplyDeleteit should be a good one
DeleteAnother romantic comedy ahhhhhhhhhhhhh :o ... wait this one has Andy Samberg in it? Well it might not be too bad then :). I've never heard of the Metal Men are they just trying to milk this super hero thing for all its worth at this point?
ReplyDeleteah, how did you become so unromantic, Matt :) You will have to finish my school of romance to set thing right :)
DeleteYep, superhero films are dairy films meaning they are made to milk money...
Our friend Matt is a fan of rain (to make me melt), so you'd expect him to be more romantic.
Deleteit's true, I'd expect it too!
DeleteThe Metal Men seems like an odd choice for a movie, and DC doesn't have a great track record for movies not Batman recently.
ReplyDeleteand they've been announcing a lot of projects and none happened....
DeleteOh how I love me a good comic book movie!!!!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear that :)
DeleteI haven't seen good rom-com lately, maybe hers would be a good one ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice watching rom-com once in a while.
Ah...I am not a fan of comic superhero...will just wait for that one in TV
I adore me some romcoms :)
DeleteI liked her a lot in Election, Dezzy. Elsie's right: there's something about her. It's not her voice, though.
ReplyDeletesomebody mentioned that film before, I haven't seen it yet.
DeleteMust've been me. A guy my age tends to repeat himself, unbeknownst to his own brains...
ReplyDeleteit's possible that it was you and some other people too.... maybe even Elsie.
