JESSE MCCARTNEY SHOOTING AN APOCALYPTIC FILM IN SERBIA. LIAM HEMSWORTH, MAX IRONS, KIT HARINGTON IN THE RUN FOR "THE HOST"? EDDIE REDMAYNE JOINS HUGH JACKMAN & RUSSELL CROWE IN "LES MISERABLES"!

After Luke Evans and John Cusack with THE RAVEN project, Ralph Fiennes and Gerard Butler with CORIOLANUS, Guy Pearce in Luc Besson's LOCKOUT, Rachel Weisz and Adrien Brody in BROTHERS BLOOM, and Chris Noth
and Neve Campbell for TITANIC BLOOD & STEEL series, a new bunch of stars has invaded Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The creators of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, FRIDAY THE 13TH and FINAL DESTINATION have started filming an untitled horror film in Serbia with the story which follows a group of friends who become stranded in an eerie and desolate city. Abandoned years before in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, nature has begun to reclaim everything. As the sun sets on this radioactive ghost town, inhuman cries cut through the night air. It seems they are not alone. The lead star of the film, young actor and pop star Jesse McCartney was seen enjoying the famous Belgrade nightlife this weekend.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
One of the films which will start shooting next year is sf thriller THE LAST DAYS ON MARS. As "MovieWeb" reports it will follow an astronaut crew which finds microscopic evidence of life
in their last day on Mars. In their last hours on the planet, two astronauts go back to a cavernous valley on the surface of Mars, to collect further evidence of their discovery. But a routine excavation turns deadly when one of them falls to his death and his body taken host and re-animated by the very life form they sought to discover. One of our favourite young stars Eddie Redmayne (PILLARS OF THE EARTH, MY WEEK WITH MARILYN) has got the role of Marius in LES MISERABLES beside Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway. As you know the adaptation of Victor Hugo's famous novel is helmed by Tom Hooper from THE KING'S SPEECH.

While his latest film IN TIME is currently in cinemas, brilliant sf director Andrew Niccol (GATTACA) is preparing himself for his next project - movie adaptation of Stephenie Meyers novel THE HOST. As "Variety" writes, Saoirse Ronan is already attached to
star as a girl whose body is invaded by an alien named Wanderer, but now the race for the lead male role is on, and it seems that names which will appear at the screen testing include Liam Hemsworth (THE HUNGER GAMES), Kit Harington (GAME OF THRONES), Jai Courtney (SPARTACUS) and Max Irons (RED RIDING HOOD).

  1. Geez aliens are really becoming a thing as of late huh? You think they are trying to tell us something? Maybe preparing us for the invasion, fear the probe..haha

  2. ah, Pat, you naive cat, the alien invasion has happened a long time ago ....

  3. I was looking forward to In Time, but the dismal reviews has kind of killed my excitement for that one.

  4. So have you been to Belgrade to rub elbows with all these famous stars, Dezzy?

  5. A lot of sci-fi movies coming out. Some of them look great, some scary. I'll decide when it's closer to viewing.

  6. Cool, another movie filming in your country, that's awesome, Dezzy.

    I haven't seen Eddie in hardly anything except for one episode of 'Pillars.' I do like him though, he has kind eyes. I quite like the male cast of Les Miserables!

  7. Awesome about "Les Miserables." Did you see the French version, not the musical but the novel set in WWII France? Absolutely fantastic.

  8. THe last days on Mars sounds pretty interesting. What with John Carter, the red planet is getting some attention at last :P

  9. I am quite up for that The LAST DAYS ON MARS. Sounds intriguing

  10. I take it Serbia is cheap at the moment to film...like good tax deals.

  11. @Dirty
    ah, Dirty, you shouldn't pay much attention to reviews, they are mostly written by mediocre fanboys who get orgasms watching Tarantino and are blind to anything positive and intelligent :(

    @Luanne
    ah, I haven't, I don't have time :) But you know I'd rather die than refuse an invite for a crazy night out with Jesse McCartney :) Thus, the last celeb I've seen remains Rachel Weisz

    yep, it's true, sf is going through sort of a revival, but it could be that I'm focusing on sf and epics all the time so you have that impression :)

    @Flixy
    I think you would greatly enjoy Eddie's acting and presence, since you and I share that sensibility towards refined and profoundly charismatic actors, and he's definitely one of them. I really hope to see him more in the future

  13. @Robert
    I haven't Robert, but it does sound interesting. This one will be musical I think, but I'm not sure

    @Jamie
    it's true, Mars is becoming a hot spot in the galaxy :) Wonder what will Venus think about that :)
    Can't wait for JOHN CARTER, although I'm still puzzled with such an extremely huge epic ($300 million) having almost no marketing and it's last than a half year from the premiere. We haven't seen any pics, posters, just one, not so exciting, trailer

  14. @Scott
    it does sound intriguing

    @Lurk
    we've yet to declare those special laws to make shooting cheaper when it comes to taxes, but foreign productions like shooting here because the staff is cheep and extremely profession, since Serbia has a very long cinematic history, and lots of movie experience, and plus the settings in Serbia provide a great variety, and the crews are not followed by paparazzi since most of the people don't care much for the stars :)

  15. ohmygoodness!!! tons of exciting news today! the jesse mccartney one sounds interesting max! (although, is it just me or does he still look about 12? i'm starting to think that i'm getting old...)
    anyway, that kid for marius looks very interesting, i've seen him around here a bit, but still haven't found time for pillars of earth. let's hope for good casting of cosette and eponine (my fave character!)
    and you KNOW my mad love for saorise ronan!!!! whoo hoo!!! and the director of GATTICA!!?!?!? i'll have to read the host. i've heard good things about it, and it's sitting on my bookcase right now, other books just keep pre-empting it! eeks! thanks for the fun news, babe! have a lovely day!

  16. He does look young, Vics, but then again he IS young :) and gorgeous, off course :)
    I think you will like Eddie Redmayne a lot. I think I've heard Hayden Panetiere mentioned for Cosette or Eponine once.
    Glad you enjoyed the news, judging from the number of comments today, it seems most people didn't share our opinion :)

  17. The Mars film and the untitled apocalyptic thing both have my attention. Those topics cater to my tastes.

  18. I heard that Oren Peli was making a new flick in Serbia but he has a movie called AREA 51 that's been sat on the shelf since 2009. Surely it'd have been a better idea to release that before embarking on this new one.

  19. @Arlee
    yep, I knew those two might "cater to your tastes" :)

    @Movies
    yep, it's Oren Peli's script. But you know how writers are - always have multiple projects in their sleeves

  20. Looks like Serbia is THE place to film!

    I'm not sure how the Host will adapt to film, but could be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Lyndy
    it sure is :)
    It does sound like an unusual script, but I don't expect anything from it since it was written by that TWILIGHT mediocre author

    @Jessie
    why am I not surprised :PPP

  22. So many films shooting in Serbia..Awesome!!! I can't believe Oren Peli is doing an alien movie. He couldn't get demonic possession right because well, he knows as much about true demonic possession as Stephenie Meyers knows about vampires. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. he he he a parallel between him and Meyers definitely isn't a compliment for him :)) I swear, sister, a little part of me dies every time somebody tells me they liked her books or the books of that horrid Charlaine Harris! Both are abominable and both write like they are just 12 years old.

  24. Eddie Redmayne as Marius? They are making some very interesting choices with this flick. Interesting does not always equal good.

    ReplyDelete
  25. he and Hugh will be the main reason for me to watch the film :)

  26. HE IS SOOO HOTT. Love that guy...Jesse McCartney. lol Horror films are usually lame (not very scary at all) but I'll see it!
