DWAYNE JOHNSON & TAYLOR LAUTNER IN "GOLIATH" EPIC? STEPHEN KING'S "UNDER THE DOME" GETS A SHOW! "MONTE VIDEO, GOD BLESS YOU" SERBIAN CANDIDATE FOR OSCARS. OLIVIA MUNN JOINS THE HUNKS IN "MAGIC MIKE"

 Probably the main headline of the day is the new casting for the upcoming epic GOLIATH. As I mentioned earlier this winter Relativity Media is preparing a lavish epic on the famous biblical story about young David, a shepard who tries to save the lives of his fellow villagers when the massive Goliath attacks, seeking the legendary king of the Israelites. The news is that the role of Goliath has been offered to Dwayne Johnson, while Taylor Lautner is the main candidate for the role of David. This epic adventure will be directed by Scott Derrickson (THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL) and should hit cinemas in 2012 or 2013.
SHORT HOLLYWOOD HEADLINES
Interesting news from Showtime: together with Steven Spielberg they will make a new show based on Stephen King's UNDER THE DOME. As  "Deadline" reports the story centers
around a group of Maine residents who become trapped under a giant force field that closes them off from the rest of the world. A gorgeous lady to join the extremely hunkylicious cast of MAGIC MIKE in which Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello, Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Bomer will play strippers, is stunning Olivia Munn who will play Chaning's girfriend. And speaking of hunkylicious, click to see the stunning new picture of Henry Cavill in Superman's costume from MAN OF STEEL if you want to see the extremely bulging muscles and some other equally bulging body parts of his :)

And in news from Europe, Serbian Film Academy has chosen the movie which will be Serbia's candidate in the race for the Oscar
in the best foreign film category next year. It is this year's biggest domestic blockbuster around the Balkans MONTE VIDEO, GOD BLESS YOU! (Monte Video, Bog te video!), heart warming, super charming and visually beautiful film which follows the  story of a bunch of poor boys who decide to follow a dream that takes them on a journey to the First World Football Championship in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1930 as Serbia's national soccer team. A dream that allows them to become true stars and living legends. Beside depicting the dream of poor boys who become heroes of a poor nation, the film also brings
magical picture of the years between the two World Wars when values and virtues were something very different from what they are today and when humanity was discovering electricity, radio, cars and seductive nightclubs and music. Check out the lovely trailer.

  1. So, Goliath is basically going to be a battle of the abs. Nice.

    I'll see if I can get the Monte Video movie from Netflix. Probably not yet. Looks good, though that's a lot of sex and gambling for such a "values and virtues" era. :PP

  2. I would almost get cable again for Under the Dome.
    Thanks for the trailer. I watched the others even with the language barrier. :o)

  3. well, we do like a battle of abs, don't we? :)

    I'm not sure if MONTE VIDEO has found a US distributor, probably not, but they did announce a marketing campaign over in US and they will even hire the agencies who do the promo things and lobbying for Oscars, so it will probably play over there till the end of year.

    you mean you don't speak Serbian??? :))

  5. When I was little I thought the word for bread was a cuss word. My family let me believe I was cussing for like 3 years!
    There wasn't anyone to teach me so I never learned.

  6. well, there is a cuss word in Serbian involving the word for bread :) We have a cussing expression meaning - effing the bread :) Not sure what it means exactly, but it is rather spicy :)

  7. I like Munn. She was good on Attack of the Show, and while i don't think she is a great actress she has been believable in everything i've seen her in. That said, i don't have any real interest in Magic Mike.

  8. I'll go see GOLIATH in the theater. And congratulations Serbia! Love the music in MONTE VIDEO, GOD BLESS YOU! What interesting lyrics. I bet they raised quite a few eyebrows at the time... if that is a period piece and not written solely for the movie.

  9. @Dirty
    I know Munn has quite a lot of fans among the male population :)

    @Doralynn
    the song was written for the movie :) and it is much more spicy and lyrical in Serbian, the translation in the subtitles is rather bad :(

  10. Stephen King writes about Main residents you say? I don't believe it! :)

  11. I was looking forward to the film treatment of Under the Dome, but I'm not thrilled that it will be a TV series that will drag out the story. I doubt that I'll be on board for that one unless I watch on DVD later.

  12. Hmm, GOLIATH sounds interesting. I certainly like the actors for it.

  13. I can imagine a lot of sir hard comic fans having some issues with the new Supes costume. I think it's about damn time they brought it out of the 1930s, but other comic fans are way more conservative :P

  14. Olivia Munn should be interesting to see but I'm not interested in anything that "werewolf" stars in I'm afraid. :P

  15. I like the idea of Dvidv and Goliath but I just cannot get on board with anything that awful Taylor does....

  16. Dwayne Johnson has a lot of charisma. He was one of the few reasons why I watched WWF. But the film's he finds himself in often don't live up to his charismatic talent which is a shame. Maybe this new one will hit the spot.

  17. @Libby
    I'm afraid it's true :)

    @Arlee
    it's not yet known whether it will be a show or just a mini series, so it could be short in the second case

    @Lyndy
    I'm also in for an epic :)

  18. @Jamie
    it is true, comic fans are never really satisfied, but I think the costume could look nice on film, and it certainly fits him perfectly

    @Dwei
    he he yep, having a role in TWILIGHT in your resume isn't really something to be proud of :) Olivia Munn is very popular among the boys

  19. @Scott
    it's true, Scott, Taylor is the representative of the talentless, empty and rather shallow new generation which was born in the cold and paranoiac 90's. No talent, no charisma, no depth ... very sad

    @Dan
    it's true, his talent should be used in a better way. The same goes for Vin Diesel. They both deserve big roles in big tentpole projects.

  20. I would make some smartass comment about The Rock and Taylor Lautner, but I'm distracted by Olivia once again.

    As far as MAN OF STEEL goes, I'm glad they ditched the red briefs, but where's the cape in this shot?!

    ReplyDelete
  21. he probably took the cape to the laundry service :)

  22. Under the Dome definitely seems more fitting as a series than a movie, lol

  23. "MONTE VIDEO, GOD BLESS YOU!" sounds like an interesting sport movie. I hope it will doing great in the race for Oscar.

  24. GOLIATH seemed more interesting project when Scott Derickson was attached to direct. Derrickson was also meant to helm PARADISE LOST but they booted him off the project in favour of Alex Pyros. The cool thing about Derrickson is that his background is in theology, hence why I think he suits these biblical projects more.

    What Olivia Munn lacks in a pretty surname she makes up for in looks.

  25. I am so going to see Magic Mike. Olivia's got some big ole panties on!

  26. @Kelley
    I guess it does, I haven't read it myself :)

    @Jaccsy
    hope you liked the trailer, Jaccsy, will Singapore have a film competing for an Oscar?

    @Movies
    I must admit I've never heard of Derrickson before this piece of news. I love all movies whish trash religion :) and church especially

    @Kelly
    yep, she stole them from her granny :)

  27. Oh man, it's hard to concentrate reading your posts with the poll you've got going on now, Dezzy ;-) Y'know which one gets my vote, he..he...

    MONTE VIDEO, GOD BLESS YOU sounds like a heartwarming story. I'll be sure to look for it when it's available to rent. I wish it'd be released here in my neck of the woods but that's highly unlikely :(

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've no idea who you're going to vote for :) but I'm surprised he's losing the game so far :)

    MONTE VIDEO was the biggest blockbuster here this year, seen by more than 500,000 people, which is huge having in mind Serbia has 8 million people :)

  29. ahh, that's good casting pitting the Rock against little Jacob Black. But wasn't King David a red-head? Seems the biblical description said he was "ruddy." Maybe he just had red cheeks...

    Still, interesting~ :o) <3

    ReplyDelete
  30. I've no idea what colour of hair David had :) I'm known as an atheist and anti-Bible anti-church person so I'm not an expert in those details :))

  31. Nothing official yet. The last time Singapore submitted movie for Oscar is in 2008, a Tamil language drama titled "My Magic".

    ReplyDelete
  32. ah, too bad :( Then the Singaporeasn should lobby for the SERBIAN representative :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah I'm surprised for the low vote for our Gerry Berry, but then again I love McAvoy too (who I think could be his younger brother!), so I'd rather he lost out to him than the rest, he..he..

    ReplyDelete
  34. that's true :) and James McAvoy competed and lost in many of HOLLYWOOD SPY's polls so far, so he deserves to win this time!
