and now it's official. Sf adventure "Dan Dare" will follow a gallant chief pilot of the Interplanet Space Fleet who goes on exciting adventures set on planets around galaxy. Another rumor that I mentioned before has been confirmed yesterday at ComicCon: Joss Whedon has revealed that Jeremy Renner from "The Hurt Locker" will really play Hawkeye in "The Avengers". As you remember Josh Holloway, Nathan Fillion and Justin Theroux were among actors mentioned as possible actors for the role. Hawkeye is the purple archer, a trained athlete and tactician who is very skilled with the bow and arrows.
A movie which has excited a lot of you in recent months, sf vampire epic "Priest" finally has a trailer. Starring Paul Bettany, Karl Urban, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q, Stephen Moyer, Mädchen Amick, Christopher Plummer ... "Priest" is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Well I love, love Sam Worthington. Even though he does the SAME yell in all his movies, it's okay with me. He's intense and I like him ALOT!!! Priest - eek, those are not vampires. What are those things? Where are the sparkles??? LOL I tease becuz I must. The trailer looks promising.

I hope they wont make a boring Dan Dare. Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers and Dan dare all come from a another time, different from our present. As simple as those characters are, I don't think modern srceenwriters/producers understand them, or share their sense of adventure.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you that not many directors would be able to get that classic sense of adventure that we've loved in FLASH GORDON, SKY CAPTAIN and DAN DARE. And I don't think that modern audience gets it either. Today's audience mostly wants morbid and dark action without any charm, glamour and witty humor. :((

Too bad there is no sequel for Sky Captain. :( But it's like we said, modern world doesn't have that "adventure never stops" attitude.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm still shocked that SKY CAPTAIN didn't do well in USA even though it was such a cool movie with great actors (except Gwyneth), mind blowing visuals, stunning costumes, amazing actions, a true classic if you ask me, and I've seen it at least five times so far :)
