SAM WORTHINGTON SHOWING TEETH IN $100 MILLION "DRACULA: YEAR ZERO" BY ALEX PROYAS

That Sam Worthington really is the luckiest guy in Hollywood. It seems he scores roles only in blockbusters with an eight zero budget. According to fresh gossips Universal and director Alex Proyas are planning a new horror epic "Dracula: Year Zero" and have invited Sam Worthington ("Avatar" and "Clash of the Titans") to take the lead role.
With the budget approximated around $100 million, "Dracula: Year Zero" will tell the story of the origins of Vlad the Impaler, the Romanian count who terrorized his country, and inspired Bram Stoker's vampire tale.
I'm a bit confused, because we recently had some news about Brad Pitt producing "Vlad" with the same story written by Charlie Hunnam.

  1. These are still rumours.
There have been (recent) films about Vlad before he "became" Dracula. Just not with this budget.

  2. I'm not sure that we can call them just rumors when there's $100 million in the game, it must be true. We shall see after all.
Speaking of good old Sam, CLASH OF THE TITANS has officially been approved for a 3D release today, together with HARRY PLOPPER :)

  4. What about us, poor people with glasses? It's not easy for us to watch 3D :)

  5. Here's hoping it's not another Alexander style race to the finish between the Proyas/Worthington collaboration and the Hunnam/Pitt collaboration... we all remember what the end result of that was. And it wasn't good.

  6. Ah, R-Co, you've just reminded me what a good epic we could've had if Buzz Luhrman made ALEXANDER instead of that monstrous mister Stone. Although I would hate Leo as Alexander, Nicole as Olympia and Mel Gibson as Philip, as much as I hated Collin and co, I would still enjoy the visual style, and the story couldn't have been worse than Oliver's.

  7. I would enjoy any 'big budget' film about the origins of Vlad, regardless of the producer (as long as there was a reputable director and actors, etc...)

  9. Dez, 3D glasses go over your regular ones. A friend of mine (with glasses) was with me on Avatar. He had no trouble with 3D whatsoever.

  11. That's not necessarily connected. Some people had headaches and they didn't even wear glasses. :(
The "trick" when watching 3D is to not let your eyes "wonder" too much. You should always try to watch what's in focus at any given moment (usually center of the screen, or something up in front).
Stereoscopic 3D creates illusion of depth pretty much the same way our eyes do. But it's a forced illusion, forced at a specific place, at a specific point in time. Try to focus your sight somewhere else at that time, and you'll lose it (focus), and you could even get headaches if your too persistent in your (flawed) ways. :)
Other than that, 3D is quite OK for most of the people.

Then again, some people get headaches after any kind of prolonged watching, be it TV, cinema, computer monitor, or 3D theatre.
