JAMES PUREFOY JOINS SF ADVENTURE "JOHN CARTER OF MARS"
Disney's adaptation of "John Carter of Mars" keeps getting bigger and bigger. After signing in an amazing group of actors including Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Dominic West, Samantha Morton and Polly Walker to star in the movie, now they've added three more to the cast.
James Purefoy will play Cantos Kan, the captain of the Xavarian, the kingdom of Helium's grand warship. Thomas Haden Church also joins the film as Tal Hajus, an ambitious and vicious Thark warrior who wants to be a ruler. The third new addition to the cast is Mark Strong who will portray Matai Shang, the ruler of the Thems, with a godlike status.
You can read more about the story of the whole movie in Hollywood Spy's previous update on "John Carter of Mars".
The movie is set to premiere in Summer 2012.
These are great news. I know/remember all three of those actors. :)
ReplyDeleteSeems like Disney is slowly building towards what could possibly be a biggest adventure movie in years. :)
Oh, hell yes :) I'm also sensing this is gonna be seriously humongous :) and if they make it visually great as well, and bring analmost forgotten genre of space opera back to the big screens I'll be the happiest man in the cinema :)
ReplyDeleteWith Andrew Stanton directing, I don't see any reason to be worried about quality. :)
ReplyDeleteAdventure genre, even if done poorly, could still be good in some way. And if it's done the right way, it could become magnificent. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, Rae, Andrew stands behind all those warm and very creative stories like WALL-E, FINDING NEMO, MONSTERS INC., A BUG'S LIFE ... we really can't worry with him behind the helm :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen "A Bug's Life". But these others are very good. Not my top favorite, but still great.
ReplyDeleteI remember that my stomach hurt (from laughing) when I watched that flock of seagulls in Nemo. Stupid birds kept squeaking "Mine! Mine!" while chasing poor Nemo (or was it his father?). But the funny part was that authors/script-writers came with an idea to make that "Mine! Mine!" sound like a regular seagull creak. :))
Yep, those schizophrenic seagulls are the legends among the hilarious animated group characters, together with the mobster penguins from MADAGASCAR and opossums from ICE AGE.
ReplyDeleteYes! :)) Mobster penguins an opossums. Who could forget those? :))
