Peacock with
Elizabeth Banks as producer but the deal was never actually realised,
Victoria Aveyard's new adult fantasy book
TEMPEST has also been sold for a TV adaptation at
Chernin Entertainment. The book is out this September as the first part of
The Lyrian Sea duology. According to Deadline, it will be an epic adventure of love and betrayal, amid a brutal war for the high seas, a pirate fantasy set against the fall of the Golden Age of Piracy, following a former noblewoman caught between empire and rebellion – and between duty and the only man she’s ever loved.
Mmmmm, I’m not sure I’m totally sold on it being sold for TV before the book even comes out in September. We haven't even read it yet. But well, because of the pirates, I'll give it a chance. Sending you a fresh, fragrant hug!
ReplyDeleteI translated her RED QUEEN saga more than a decade ago for the readers in my country. A lot of books get sold for an adaptation even before they are published, as the studios compete to get the best stories as soon as possible. About 90% of those deals never go through in the end, sadly. Returning the hug, Angelito.

DeleteThis is probably not one for me. I think I have a copy of her Red Queen that I pilfered from a free little library here, but never got around to reading. I'll probably pop it back in my own little free library for someone else to grab.

DeleteJesus, that sounds deranged. I don't care what side of the political aisle one is on, but when they interject current politics into their work it really irks me. Stephen King does it, and while I am probably more politically aligned with his views, it still makes me mad. I read to escape the insanity of the world, not get an extra helping while I'm trying to disassociate with everything in my daily life.
DeleteAnd given that it was considered a YA series, it is literally an indoctrination if you put your political agenda into a book for youngsters.
