TRAILER AND AIRING TIME FOR THE HARDACRES HEARTWARMING 19TH CENTURY TV SERIES AIRING THIS AUTUMN AT CHANNEL 5

   THE HARDACRES
A TRAILER FOR THE PERIOD SET SERIES
Channel 5 has sent us a delightful trailer for their new series coming up this Autumn THE HARDACRES, a sweeping rags to riches story that follows the lives, loves and fortunes of the working class Hardacre family as they move from a grimy fish dock to a vast country estate in 1890’s Yorkshire. The six episode costume drama will hit the British channel Monday, October 7th! Coming from the creators of All Creatures Great and Small it aims to bring the same heartwarming feel and family fun. Check out the trailer below.
A SMALL SCREEN ADAPTATION OF
CL Skelton’s best-selling series of novels it follows the family of a loving married couple Mary and Sam Hardacre (Claire Cooper and Liam McMahon), who land on hard times following an accident at work on the docks, which leaves them unemployed and broke. With Julie Graham as Mary’s wily mother, Ma, and their three kids, Joe, Liza, and Harry (Adam Little, Shannon Lavelle and Zak Ford-Williams), the family band together to think fast with a business venture that will free them from their humble existence on the North Yorkshire Coast and catapult them into high society. Holly Sturton stars as Adella, Cathy Belton as Emma and Owen Roe as George, from the well to do Fitzherbert Family and new neighbours of The Hardacres. Ingrid Craigie is housekeeper Mrs Dryden, with Siobhan O’Kelly as Lena and Taheen Modak as Saunders.

  1. I like a rags to riches story. Why can't my life be a rags to riches story? lol

  2. Looks lovely! I'm busting my ass to have me my own rags to riches story. However, I like to think that I'd live more modestly and not flash my wealth unlike the Hardacres. The next town over is full of massive homes, and I look at them and wonder why that's the goal for so many. I'll be buying land and building a modest little cottage away from all of the flashy rich folk.

    2. I fully intend on building a second home on our property. A tiny guest home that visitors can stay in when they visit. I am at the stage in my life that I don't want anyone in our home anymore. They can come in for dinner, but they better take their butts our to the guest home afterwards and leave me in peace LOL

    3. I would still have butler quarters, I need me my (Gerard) butlers 24/7.

  3. I quite liked some of the Catherine Cookson adaptations from the 1990s though some people are a bit snobby about them. There were a couple that featured the r word in the plot - that wasn't the sort of story I wanted to read or watch .

    1. Dramas and books were not as politically correct previously as they are these days.

  4. Just mentioned Catherine Cookson because she wrote a lot of rags to riches stories. I'm not saying that the Hardacres story will necessarily be like a Catherine Cookson story.
