Tibetan born Tenzing Norgay, alongside New Zealand mountaineer Edmund
Hillary, both outsiders on a British Expedition, defied insurmountable
odds to achieve what was once thought impossible, reaching the summit of
the world’s tallest mountain, Mount Everest. After six previous
attempts, Tenzing risked everything for one final venture. He had to
navigate treacherous politics and perilous weather as he embarked on the
most significant climb of his life. Through it all, he did so with
humor, warmth, and generosity towards his fellow climbers, but also deep
reverence and respect for the sacred Mother Goddess of his Mountain,
Chomolungma. The actor who will play Tenzing has not been cast yet.
6 attempts? Well, why do people want to climb up Mount Everest? Not sure that's worth the risk..
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is the stupidest thing ever, we have a man from my city who died there a few years ago he was twenty something. His parents made him a plaque somewhere in the city, but for what? For being that stupid, chasing some silly goal and losing life? Not to mention climbing business is expensive as hell. Beside the trip, equipment etc you also pay somewhere between 100,000 and 200,000$ to Nepal for the license to climb their mountain. Imagine how many hungry mouths you can feed with that money? It is even more difficult for the locals like Tenzing, because they do not have that amount of funds, but then again unlike us their lungs there are genetically different and suited for that air. I have read that due to the amount of oxygen their women cannot even get pregnant above the certain altitude.

DeleteYou could buy a small house with what you would pay to climb that mountain. The sheer stupidity of it just grates on my nerves.
