PREMIUM SPOTLIGHT ON DISNEY PLUS HISTORICAL MINI TV SERIES SHARDLAKE WITH ARTHUR HUGHES, SEAN BEAN AND ANTHONY BOYLE! AIR DATE AND TRAILER

 SHARDLAKE AIRDATE IS HERE
FOR DISNEY'S NEW EPIC MINI TV SERIES
Disney Plus has graced us with the new trailer and streaming launch date (May 1st) for their and Hulu's historical mystery series SHARDLAKE which,
Shardlake starts this May on Disney Plus
based on the best-selling novels by CJ Sansom, sees lovely Arthur Hughes playing Matthew Shardlake, a lawyer with an acute sense of justice and one of the few honest men in a world beset with scheming and plots. Shardlake works for Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean) the dangerous and all-powerful right-hand man to Henry VIII.

 STORY OF SHARDLAKE SERIES
Despite Shardlake’s unwavering loyalty to Cromwell and the Crown, his position in society is unfavoured due to his appearance, as a person living with scoliosis during the Tudor period, suffering the indignity of being abused as a “crookback” wherever he turns. Anthony Boyle plays the cocky and good-looking Jack Barak, who leaves Shardlake unsure of whether he is an assistant, or Cromwell’s spy. Drenched in mystery, suspense and deception, this four-part drama, is an eerie whodunnit adventure, set in 16th century England during the dissolution of the monasteries. Shardlake’s sheltered life as a lawyer is turned upside down when Cromwell instructs him to investigate the murder of one of his commissioners at a monastery in the remote town of Scarnsea. The commissioner was gathering evidence to close the monastery and it is now imperative for Cromwell’s own political survival that Shardlake both solves the murder and closes the monastery. He leaves Shardlake in no doubt that failure is not an option. Cromwell insists that he is accompanied by Jack Barak to Scarnsea, where the duo are met with hostility, suspicion and paranoia by the monks who fear for their future and will seemingly stop at nothing to preserve their order. 1. Welcome! I like Sean Bean, but I haven't seen him in a long time and I think he's getting old. Time shocks me. :(

    1. Most of them have got old, just saw Clint Eastwood last night, he is totally decrepit, but he is almost 100 years old now.

    2. i don't think I could cope with Mr. Eastwood not being in this world. I rather have him decrepit (he was born in 1930) than dead. I have loved him since I was 8 years old.

    3. Mmm, an Anglo-African as a monastery prior? Well, it is Disney. They are already facing critics for not having Black actors in Shogun

    4. Clint looked extremely old but also quite firm on his legs and sane in his mind. He was very hot indeed as a youngster.

I have noticed a number of recent period set shows without blacks, from new Belgravia to Mary and George, now Shogun, something is changing obviously. On the other hand I just finished Extrapolations, and it was the most wokist show ever in its forced diversity. Everybody was black or Asian and the white man was the main villain of course LOL

On the other hand I love how they are giving our lovely Arthur Hughes a chance to be the first physically impaired actor to lead a historical show, cannot wait to watch him in it, he is so lovely.

    5. Clint Eastwood and my favorite actor Gene Hackman too. C'est la vie...

    6. Gene was also shot by the paparazzi last year, he left acting two decades ago and is now 94. He also looked quite nice for someone that old. He now leads a very private life.

  2. This is another one I doubt I'll be watching.

    1. I am not really sure, Mary, what is it that you would actually watch on the telly other than horrors lol

  3. Sean Bean has changed a lot...getting old is fine (better than die young), but his face looks totally different now. p.s Totally with Malena about Clint Eastwood. I also quite miss Sean Connery.

    1. He plucked his eyebrows in a really weird way and has been doing it for some time now, it is hilarious.

  4. Not one for me, but I don’t really watch Disney much these days. I just keep the subscription for when we have kids over and they want to use it.
