A GUIDE THROUGH EUROPEAN 2024 HISTORICAL AND EPIC SERIES: FROM SPAIN, RUSSIA, FRANCE, HUNGARY, ITALY AND GERMANY

 EURO 2024 EPIC DRAMAS
BEGUINAS FROM SPAIN
Coming from Spain this historical series follows Lucía de Avellaneda as she celebrates her engagement party with the Marquis of Peñarrosa, but her fiancée receives a letter from a woman claiming to be her mother requesting her to come to her deathbed. Our dear Yon Gonzales plays the lead male role in this 16th century set series done for Atresplayer.

  FRENCH DANGEROUS FRIENDSHIP
Based on a book from Juliette Benzoni this French series will follow a lively duchess (Kelly Depault) who befriends the shy queen of France (Stephanie Gil). The duchess aims to reunite the queen with the aloof King Louis XIII (Jeremy Gillet) by injecting merriment into the staid royal atmosphere, causing controversy at court. The four part series sees Stanley Weber playing her husband duke of Chevreuse!

HUNGARIAN RISE OF THE RAVEN
In this international coproduction, the story revolves around the fearless warrior Janos Hunyadi who defeated the Ottoman Army and defended Europe in 1456 at the battle of Belgrade Female characters include Erzsébet Szilágyi, the wife who stands by him and often fights in his place, and Serbian princess Mara Brankovic, his first love, who then breaks his heart by becoming the lead wife in Sultan Murad's court in order to save her own country.

THE LEOPARD FROM ITALY
Netflix will, meanwhile, bring us the latest TV series adaptation of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa's famous novel! While Sicily is struggling in the turmoil of the Risorgimento in 1860, the Prince of Salina reigns over his family and his possessions, convinced that even these disorders are destined to pass. Kim Rossi Stuart takes the lead role.

HAGEN FROM GERMANY
We have been waiting for this one for a long time now. Our dearest Jannis Niewohner takes a role in the series which is a reinterpretation of the Nibelungen saga centering on Hagen von Tronje, a Viking who allies himself with the ancient gods and takes up arms against an unscrupulous ruler.

AETERNA FROM RUSSIA
After the pilot two years ago Russian Kinopoisk is turning this one into a series. One of the main states of Qertiana is Talig, whose throne was seized by the Ollar dynasty. The rightful heir takes refuge in the city-state of Agaris, where the head of the local church rules. He dreams of one day overthrowing the Ollars and reclaiming the throne that is rightfully his.

    2. Most probably in Netflix, they've been buying Atres production these last years.

    3. They did stream his Heirs to the Land.

    4. Now that you mention it, it has a lot of Spanish period pieces and not all from Atres. La Catedral del Mar, Tiempos de Guerra, Cable Girls (I think that is a Netflix co-op), The Cook of Castamar and The Patietts of Doctor Garcia. They also had Time in Between.

    5. I am currently watching their Smiley comedy series, it is both good and annoying but the lead couple is hot together.

    1. Jesus Maria, Angie, he is your biggest star and my absolute fave of all Germans! I watched almost all of his films and shows. He was amazing as Maximilian, as Felix Krull, as Narcissus... simply brilliant and gorgeous too.

  3. Hagen is one that I'll be looking for. It's similar to my birth name Haga. I wonder if the two are connected. I'll have to go Google this now.

    1. Haga seems to be mostly from Norway, Sweden and Japan. Makes sense since there is a Haga castle in Sweden. My pen pal in middle school sent me literature on the Haga castle (way before Google was even a thing). I should roll up and claim it as my new home LOLOL

    2. I've seen it, does not look overly interesting, very boring structure, you can do better than that LOL

    3. A castle is a step up from my current residence even if it is boring LMAO!

    4. But imagine the expenses.... Most of current aristocrats that inherited old palaces do not know how to keep them as they cost something terrible and they no longer have other land to gain money from it.

    5. It's like kids here who think they will be able to inherit their parents houses and it will be free living for the rest of their lives. They don't realize that even if the house is fully paid for, there will still be property taxes, insurance, upkeep... you still need to pay for that stuff. My nephew really thought he was going to inherit my mom's house and live there without a job for the rest of his life. She was like, "no sir. it's getting sold because you'll lose it within a year." And he would too, because he graduated early at 16, but still hasn't ever had a job even though he's 18 now. So for 2 years he's just been existing in her house, not contributing.

    6. Well he is still a boy, he will find his way sooner or later. Some houses are really so expensive to upkeep. Our monthly expenses with taxes, electricity and heating are about 300 euro and average salary monthly is 500 euro, so one person could hardly be able to pay it every month.
