STANLEY WEBER CAST IN FRENCH HISTORICAL SERIES A DANGEROUS FRIENDSHIP ABOUT ANNE OF AUSTRIA QUEEN OF FRANCE AND LOUIS XIII

 STANLEY WEBER TO STAR
IN A DANGEROUS FRIENDSHIP PERIOD SET MINI TV SERIES
Well, he certainly isn't a stranger to period set projects, we have admired Stanley Weber in Borgia, Britannia, Outlander costume dramas, and now he will
Stanley Weber will be Duke de Chevreuse
also star in A DANGEROUS FRIENDSHIP (Une amitié dangereuse) four episode historical mini series. It will follow two women, young and beautiful, who form a strong friendship. Marie de Rohan (Kelly Depault), Duchess of Chevreuse, is lively and cheerful, free in body and mind, she collects adventures. Anne of Austria (Stephanie Gil) is the Queen of France. A prudish and shy woman who, married too young and abandoned by her husband King Louis XIII (Jeremy Gillet), suffers from neurasthenia. Freddie Dennis will play Duke of Buckingham, while our Stanley Weber will be duke of Chevreuse. Maya Sansa will be Maria de Medici, with gorgeous Jack Laskey as Holland. The series is done for France Television based on the books by my favourite Juliette Benzoni.

  1. Ohh, I want to watch this, is the historical background f the Three Musketteers, but never gets enough time in the adaptations. There are a lot of legends about that ocurt, including the fact that Buckingham was the father of twins, one of the became The Man in the Iron Mask

    1. In the latest Musketeers movie Anne is, sadly, quite present, played by the godawful and mediocre Vicky Kripes, gave me such cringing.... Cannot imagine why would anyone cast her in anything let alone as a seductress.

    2. Buckingham died in 1628, Louis XIV was born in 1638, and I had nothing to add

    4. obviously not, but there it seems to be a confusion. Dumas wrote a novel where Anne of Austria had twins, one ws Louis the XIV and the other was The Man in the Iron Mask, but I was talking about the theories surrounding the identity of the real Man in the Iron Mask. One of them was that it was the product of a liaison between the queen and the duke.

    5. As much as we love Dumas, he was known as a grand fabricator and manipulator with facts, he wrote many a book out of revenge and we talked about it before, methinks, visa vie Catherine de Medici. I have never read the novel even though I have it in English in my shelf.

    6. Indeed, Dumas did not fabricate the alleged affair. The King was so incensed by Buckingham’s attentions to the Queen that he forbade her to see him unless he was present. Rumors about Anne’s infidelities were rampant at the time. Over the centuries, there have been many myths about her illegitimate offspring, The Black Nun (via Anne’s Black dwarf, Nabo); a younger brother of Louis and Gaston (via Cardinal Mazarin, Voltaire believed in that tale) or an older brother (via Buckingham). As it happens with all conspiracy theories, it was easier to link it to another, namely The Man in the Iron Mask

  2. I’d like to strike up a friendship with Stanley Weber. That would be a dangerous friendship indeed.
