LIVE ACTION REMAKE REVEALS THE LEAD DUO OF ACTORS

Universal has announced who will be the lead stars of their live action adaptation of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON after the successful animated movie versions. As Deadline reports, Mason Thames will portray Hiccup in the 2025 film, while Nico Parker will be Astrid. The new movie, directed by Dean DeBlois, will draw audiences deep into DreamWorks Animation’s imaginative lore. Working from a single narrative tapestry, the adventures of Hiccup and Toothless have captivated fans across three films that have grossed over $1.6 billion.

Reminiscent of the holodeck in the Star Trek universe, this technology lets Ludovic analyze details large and small of the crime scene where a woman was found drowned on a beach — without having to be there. But the VR is not without glitches, and it is precisely because of a glitch that Ludovic is able to reconnect with Mélanie (Camille Claris), the mother of his daughter, Juliette (Anaïs Parello), and the love of his life

Vortex will stream in six episodes

— a woman long dead. This glitch has allowed a temporal rift to open, so Ludovic can communicate with Mélanie before her death 27 years ago. Interestingly, she died on the same beach in Brest as the deceased woman in Ludovic’s current investigation. As he delves further into both cases, he discovers that the deaths of both women are connected: they were both murdered. Ludovic desperately wants to save Mélanie from the killer, but changing the past has consequences in the present, thanks to the butterfly effect. For Ludovic, preventing Mélanie’s death could cost him his own life in the here and now, the one it took him so long to rebuild and that has given him his new wife, Parvana (Zineb Triki), and their son, Sam. Netflix has not issued an English language trailer, sadly, but you can check out the French one below and tell us what you think.

December 27th has been announced as the release date for historical adventure THE EDGE OF BLADE ( Une affaire d'honneur) which is both directed by Vincent Peres and has him in the cast! The story is set in Paris 1887. At that time, only the duel prevailed to defend one's honor. Clément Lacaze, charismatic fencing master finds himself caught in a spiral of destructive violence. He meets Marie-Rose Astié, a feminist ahead of her time, and decides to teach her the complex art of dueling. They will face provocations and unite to defend their respective honor.

Newly minted Paramount + with Showtime has released first images from their period set mini series FELLOW TRAVELERS which will arrive to the small screens this Autumn starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey as a gay couple. Both of them are gay in private lives as well. Bailey is Tim Laughlin, a young and optimistic graduate looking for a job in Washington DC’s elite, and Matt is Hawkins Fuller, a political staffer in the adaptation of Thomas Mallon’s novel of the same name.

  IN THE EIGHT PART SERIES

They forge a decades-spanning relationship against a backdrop of McCarthyism, the Vietnam War and the AIDS crisis, from the 1950s all the way to the 80s. The series sees Hawkins get Laughlin a job working for Senator Joe McCarthy. The Senator led the Lavender (and Red) Scare, which saw people ejected from government positions for even the slightest hint of being homosexual. Hawkins asks Laughlin to spy on McCarthy (Chris Bauer) which adds a transactional quality to the pair’s relationship.

 THE STORY FOLLOWS

Eugénie (Juliette Binoche), an outstanding cook, who has worked for the famous gastronome Dodin (Benoit Magimel who in real life has a daughter with Binoche) for 20 years. By dint of spending time together in the kitchen, a loving passion has been built between them where love is closely linked to the practice of gastronomy. From this union are born dishes all more tasty and delicate than the others which go so far as to amaze the greatest of this world. However, Eugénie, eager for freedom, never wanted to marry Dodin. The latter then decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.

Two years have almost passed from the first season which did not really get love from the audience, so it will be interesting to see how will this one go. Adapted from Robert Jordan novels it follows a farm boy, Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski) who learns he is The Dragon Reborn, a dangerous figure destined to save the world. Desperate to protect him from the Dark One, an army of powerful sorceresses must reckon with Rand’s burgeoning power and encroaching madness.

IN THE SECOND SEASON

 the Wheel of Time turns and the Last Battle approaches. Because though Rand thought he destroyed the Dark One, evil is not gone from the world. Threats new and very old will seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers, who are now scattered over the world. IN THE FAIRYTALE KINGDOM

of Babenhausen, a young, self-appointed expert on love, Mr. Cazotte (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), is hired by the scheming Grand Duchess (Sidse Barbett Knudsen) to help her secure an heir. While searching for a suitable future Princess, Mr Cazotte teaches the timid and introverted Crown Prince Lothar (Emil Aron Dorph) the art of seduction and lovemaking. But their plan soon backfires, when an heir is conceived out of wedlock and the royal family has to seek refuge in the castle of Rosenbad. Here, as rivals within the royal family close in on their scheme, Cazotte himself falls in love with Ehrengard (Alice Esther Bier Zandén), the maid of honor, and gradually learns that in fact, he’s no expert on love at all.

Not that you will recognise them, especially Jude Law (that is him in the first photo) who changed fully in order to play Henry VIII in FIREBRAND historical drama which got standing ovations last night at Cannes, but everything gets ovations there, some other first review describe the film as empty and lacking in fire. Beside looking not as handsome as he normally does, Jude revealed that during the filming he also wore a specially-made perfume, to get into character, made out of 'blood, fecal matter and sweat'! Poor Alicia Vikander, who plays his last wife Catherine Parr in it.. Patsy Ferran portrays princess Mary and Junia Rees portrays Elizabeth. Erin Doherty portrays radical preacher Anne Askew, who was labelled a heretic by Henry and his supporters, while Sam Riley and Eddie Marsan play brothers Thomas and Edward Seymour, who were senior courtiers.

 

 FIREBRAND FOLLOWS

Catherine Parr, the final wife of Henry VIII, a feminist force to be reckoned with who outlived the notorious king; the fate of his previous wives being either divorced, dead or beheaded. She is named regent with the king warring abroad, and she’s done everything she can to push for a new future based on her radical Protestant beliefs. Law plays a royal on his way out, having returned from fighting with a dire medical condition. Palace intrigue abounds entailing Henry squaring off with the Seymours brothers, one of them having their eye on Catherine, and the king ultimately fading.

BBC SERIES FINALLY ARRIVES

We have definitely waited for this one for a long time, I think I first announced it years ago and then a few weeks ago BBC sent us the first images from their new historical series THE GALLOWS POLE but now we finally have a trailer as well, which you can watch down below, and also an airing date which is closer than you might expect: it will land at BBC Two May 31st based on the book by Benjamin Myers and the three episode series will also be available for streaming on their i Player.
