NEW HISTORICAL WW1 SWISS ALPS SET DRAMA DAVOS WITH DOMINIQUE DEVENPORT AND DAVID KROSS TO LAUNCH AT MIPTV! SEE NEW PICTURES!

   DAVOS SWISS ALPS
SET NEW COSTUME DRAMA TO LAUNCH AT MIPTV IN CANNES
Dominique Devenport and David Kross
As you probably remember, your most trusted spy was among the first ones in the world to inform you, last winter, about the new six part German and Swiss costume drama DAVOS set in the popular Swiss Alps winter resort.  Now, Variety reports that leading European distributor Global Screen will launch this premium quality spy drama over at MipTV in Cannes where it will be offered to the international buyers. The World War I story set in then neutral Switzerland will follow a female main protagonist Johanna, played by empress Sisi Dominique Devenport, a nurse who gets embroiled in a plot involving international spies. She intends to find her illegitimate daughter and agrees to a dangerous deal with the German secret service. Jeanette Hain, David Kross, Anna Schinz, Hanspeter Müller-Drossaart and Sunnyi Melles will also star in the series which was shot earlier this winter. Among the known broadcasters, we know it will air on Swiss channel SRF and German national broadcaster ARD during the 2023-2024 winter television season!
WHAT IS THE STORY OF DAVOS?
World War I is ravaging Europe. By contrast, Davos, the aristocratic spa town in the Swiss Alps, seems like an oasis of peace. But behind the scenes, neutral Switzerland takes center stage in a relentless battle between the secret agents of the world powers. Young nurse Johanna Gabathuler unexpectedly gets caught between the fronts: to win back her illegitimate child, she starts to work as a spy for the German secret service – and suddenly becomes the tipping point in a risky plan that decides over war and peace.

  1. Dying to see Davos. Not crazy about pelotarias. I would like to see the polish brothel yarn. Why is Spain making a series about Poe? Would't that be cultural appropriation?

    1. It will be in English, from the production house that made The Head series, which was also made for the international market. I am currently trying to find more on the Polish series, but it ain't easy as all the material is in Polish LOL

  3. Have you told us of Moth Hunting before? I may check that one out. I tried to get into Harlots a while back and it just wasn't my cuppa. Maybe this one will be better.

    1. No, and I think I will not cover it furthermore as it seems very biased politically. I liked Harlots, not adored, but liked, it had so many lovely hunks in the cast. The end was idiotic, though.

    2. Oh, I can't do politically and racially biased viewing anymore. I tried watching a comedy with Jason the other day and instead of what I thought was going to be a bit of fun viewing, I felt like I was being preached to about the political and racial inequalities in the country. Like, I get it. We have a long way to go still here, but for once can I sit down and have 2 hours of viewing that doesn't have an agenda attached!?

    3. Nope, nothing without an agenda these days. I just read that the actress that plays the lead in Bridgerton spin off about queen Charlotte said that she never watched costume dramas before as she did not feel they were about her as they had no blacks. So now they made Charlotte black even though she was not historically, and she is happy. So to make someone happy you change the identity of a real person??? Da phook. If I do not feel like Shaka Zulu is about me, will they make Chris Evans play him?

    4. I think one day people are going to read about these times and think "da hell was wrong with those people?" Kind of like how we think da hell was wrong with them crapping in the streets and only bathing once in a blue moon back then. Didn't they change Billy the Kid to a black actor as well? Whatever on the mermaid because that's fiction, but you just can't go around changing the race of real life people to fit some dang agenda. I'm kind of sitting back laughing about everyone getting worked up about the Lilo and Stitch casting right now. The same ones who told everyone else to stick a sock in their mouths over the casting are now up in arms about Disney not sticking with the script on casting racially correct actresses for that film now.

    5. I thought the girl was from the islands, she isn't? I saw the photo somewhere, she looked of the race to me, but could be that she isn't. I mean if Latina can play Marylin Monroe...

    6. The little girl might be but I think the one they cast as her older sister is fair skinned and people don't like it. They want her to be darker and look more like a native Hawaiian. I am pretty sure she was born on the island, but she's pale skinned so people are pissed.

    7. Let them be, we are pissed also with Jada turning Cleopatra into a black woman, Egypt is in uproar because of that vile racist woman.
