  IMPERIAL VACCINATION
is a fascinating story about how, for the first time in the history of Russia, mass vaccination was carried out, saving tens of thousands of lives. In 1768, at the height of the most severe smallpox epidemic that killed every tenth inhabitant of the country, Empress Catherine II decides to set a personal example for her subjects: together with her heir, Tsarevich Pavel, she is the first to be vaccinated against a terrible disease and declares vaccination mandatory for everyone - despite the court orders. intrigue, peasant riots and the impending war with Turkey, this decree must be carried out at all costs, otherwise the deadly virus will claim even more lives. Stay tuned as I will try to give you other fresh images from the series and the first trailer as soon as they arrive!

  1. What a fascinating subject, and it shows we never grow tired of Catherine the Great. In "Yekaterina"this topic took an entire episode mixing it with the love story of (real life) ladiy in waiting to the empress, countess Anna heremeteva who died of smallpox.

    1. Yes, I remember this topic from the other two series and also how Catherine ordered her bolyars to grow potatoes and beets at their fields to feed the hungry people and it really did lower the number of those who were dying during the bad crop years. You remember the scene when she offers boiled potatoes and beets to her council and has to try them first in order to make them eat it LOL

    2. I'll never forget it because it introduces us to the first (convicted) Russian serial killer Countess Saltikova. I love Yekaterina. This is my third time watching it, and I always find new things in it.

    3. Yes, Saltikova the Blood Baroness, the one that she locked in a hole in the ground, right?

    4. Yes, Catherine had the same problem that afflicted the Habsburgs with Countess Bathory. You can’t execute a noblewoman just for rimes against the hoi polloi, heinous as they might be. So, she had Saltikova buried alive. There is a limited series on the subject with Yulia Snigir who played Catherine in Velikaia playing the serial killer
. Tubi was supposed to bring it, but never did.

    5. The nobles were very negligent of their minions, indeed. Being a serf was good only if you had a good batyushka or matushka, which was rare, sadly.

  3. It does look lavish. Though I probably would have failed miserably back then if I had to wear one of those dresses that make the boobies pop out like that seeing how I have none. I'd be demoted to putting on the maid's outfits, I bet.
