CARY GRANT ARCHIE SERIES
After we announced Jason Isaacs as the lead in Cary Grant biopic TV series ARCHIE for ITVX and BritBox, we now know that the cast will also
have Henry Lloyd-Hughes next to Laura Aikman as Cary’s ex-wife Dyan Cannon, Harriet Walter as Grant’s mother. Dainton Anderson, Calam Lynch and Oaklee Pendergast as young versions of Archie Leach (his real name) and Kara Tointon as young Elsie. Ian Pulston-Davies, Ian McNeice, Jason Watkins, Lisa Faulkner and Niamh Cusack are also in. The series will show his early life and cross to 1961 at the height of his fame.
It will start with his birth in Bristol in 1904 and tell the story of a childhood spent in extreme poverty, dealing with his father’s adultery and the loss of older brother John. At 14, he joined music hall act and moved to the U.S. and, soon after, Cary Grant was born.

Marie Antoinette's story, like the Titanic, is one we have to go into knowing it won't end well. lol

DeleteI agree, Why say she defeats her enemies in Versailles? When? When she is in Heaven? How? In that they ended up in the guillotine like her? After being unable to finish the second chapter of The Empress, I realized all these stories of queens are clonifications of the previous one, thus they have become extremely boring.

Fanny says she loved it and binged it in one sitting LOL I am downloading it as we speak and will start the first ep on Monday instead of House of the Dragon. I really liked the first ep of Serpent Queen too, probably because it is dynamic and most of the shows recently were slow and dull. Hope I will like it till the end. My fave currently is Rings of Powers as it is getting better and better and I am growing attached to some of the characters, plus it is the most beautiful series ever made, your eyes pop like literally in every scene, you want to freeze each shot and study it closely LOL
DeleteI have never much liked French royals, so I don't expect much from Marie, I even found Versailles terribly dreary, but watched it for my boo Blagden.
It has to do with what we as spectators search in stories, and I definetely don't find it in Der Kaiserin. Moreover, I have been watching and reading versions of herllfe since I wa five years old. Now it's a matter of "what idiocy are they going to invent to make this one stand out?" While watching it I was going "Ohh I saw this in The Great. I saw that in The Serpent Queen. Ohh doen't Vicky Krieps do that in the trailer of The Corsage? "So, it holds no charm for me. Yes, a lot bullshit (most of it never happened) went on during TSQ first episode. The second one was slow and dull to my taste. But then I fall asleep with porn, so my idea of something good differs from most people.
DeleteYes, I noticed that they are exaggerating a bit in Serpent Konigin, probably to make it more shocking. It is fun, though, how you find House of Dragon watchable and stick to it, even though it offers next to nothing, especially not to us more intelligent viewers. Stay tuned later today for Dangerous Liaisons spotlight, another crap we do not plan to watch unless they pay us big bucks.
DeleteI ’m sorry, but I fail to follow you. To me “watchable” means there is something in a film /series that leads me to watch it. Whether I like it or not it’s inconsequential. “Unwatchable” means I stop watching it all together. I have dutifully watched the first three episodes of TSQ. I’m planning to watch it to the bitter end, and plan (G-d willing) to write two entries on it for my blog. I don’t understand this comparison to House of the Dragon. As you know, I’ve only watched one episode, The fifth. I’m not planning to rewind and watch the previous episodes. I have not promoted the series; I’m not contemplating writing anything about it. Everybody knows I don’t like it, and I have expressed my opinion in private blogs and Facebook. The main reasons, as you know for me to watch it is a) so I can hold a proper debate on my friend Ana’s blog where she’s placing excellent ( albeit negative) reviews and b) because my brother is watching it and it gives me a chance to share time with him. If that makes me less intelligent …So, be it. Dangerous liaisons prequel, on the other hand, has no hook to make me watch it.

ReplyDeleteWell, that is how they put it on back in those silly days, at least it wasn't lead based like in Elizabethan times LOL They wore so much make up because their faces were horrid from pocks and pimples and lack of hygiene, and they stunk to sweet heavens above.
DeleteThe networks need some new material. I'm sure there's plenty of juicy things in history that are worth exploring instead of repeating the same stories again and again..
