FOR DISNEY PLUS ITALIA
We are usually used to getting Italian originals from Sky and Netflix, but now Disney Plus Italia has also announced an original new series and it will be in our favourite historical genre. The production has already commenced
on THE LIONS OF SICILY, a family saga based on Stefania Auci’s bestseller “The Florios of Sicily.”
Paolo Genovese is directing this saga which will have eight episodes set between 1800 and 1861, with the story following the Florio family where brothers Paolo and Ignazio are two small spice merchants who have escaped from a Calabria stuck in the past and in search of social redemption. In Sicily they invent a future, turning a small, run-down shop into a flourish business activity that young Vincenzo, with his revolutionary ideas, will transform into an economic empire. However, overwhelming Vincenzo’s life and that of the entire family is the disruptive arrival of Giulia, a strong and intelligent woman who is in contrast with the
rigid rules of the society of the time. Michele Riondino, Miriam Leone, Donatella Finocchiaro, Vinicio Marchioni, Eduardo Scarpetta, Paolo Briguglia, Ester Pantano and Adele Cammarata, are all members of the cast.

LUCK MOVIE TRAILER
Apple TV Plus has released first trailer for their animated comedy movie LUCK which
will hit the streamer August 5th telling the story of Sam Greenfield,
the unluckiest person in the world, who when she stumbles into the
never-before-seen Land of Luck, sets out on a quest to bring some good
luck home for her best friend. But with humans not allowed, her only
chance is teaming up with the magical creatures who live there to do it. Peggy Holmes directed the movie. The voice cast has some not so likeable people in it including Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Simon Pegg, beside Flula Borg, Lil Rel Howery, Colin O’Donoghue, John Ratzenberger and Adelynn Spoon Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think? ReplyDeleteIt is Disney Italy so maybe they are a bit different? I did not even know Disney Italy exists LOL But they are definitely branching. HBO has, meanwhile, stopped almost all of their European productions after merging with Warner or something like that. So everything that was shooting for them in Central Europe and some other parts is now dead as they want to save money for developing their web of users not for producing new shows.
DeleteSo, finally the recession hit HBO. I don’t care as long as they renew Julia and the Gilded Age. But never trust their renewals, because it’s been two years since they promised Perry Mason’s second season. I feel bad about their Central European series, I liked The Informer.

I would like to see European ratings to know wat they are watching, and which streaming company is doing best.
Gilded Age is currently in big trouble as a horse has died on the set while pulling a carriage and now PETA demands investigation. Apparently they use very old, twenty years old, horses for these things as that is the only way for them to bring some money to their owners. Imagine being such an old horse and being forced to pull that ugly wench of Streep's daughter around the set. Horrid. They might be cancelled for this if proven guilty. One might say they are in deep horse shit. Perry Mason is shooting, they just added someone new to the cast, you have the news on Deadline, methinks.
DeletePS when it comes to streaming in Europe, Netflix is the strongest as they are the only one next to Amazon to cover most of the countries here, while HBO and Disney are only now spreading their web. We are mostly poor so their prices and having many different streamers won't really work here.
DeleteAnd the third PS for today LOL - HBO has just cancelled Gentleman Jack too, as it had horrid ratings in USA but BBC might still save it for themselves.
DeleteAnd I was coming to tell you about Gentleman Jack and the poor horse! Friday morning cleaning delayed me. My backache gave me a recess (yesterday I as actually crying in pain), and I took advantage to do some physical work.
DeleteThe horsey: I’m outraged, especially now that you tell me about the ugly circumstances behind the horse’s death. That this should happen in America and in HBO just shows you how greed and cynicism go hand in hand. This would have never happened in a true animal-loving country like England, and they had plenty of horses in Downton Abbey.
GJ: I’m surprised. There are so few lesbians shows around. I imagined it was immensely popular in USA. I stopped watching in the first season a) because I didn’t like the leading character. Too snarky and bossy and b) because in real life that romance ended in tragedy, so I didn’t want to watch that.
Streaming: In Latin America, now, we have the four companies, but they are cheaper than here. Netflix largest audience is in India, but the company charges like $2 monthly. And then you have streaming companies that you can access through a regular cable company like Starz. Does the European Amazon work like an umbrella the way it does in the USA? Can you access other streaming services through their grapevine like here? I access AMC+, and PBS Amazon + Freevie which is free. All through Amazon I could access Starz and Showtime (which is in my regular cable grill) and MHz which I access via Samsung (my smart Ruhami).
I know in Serbia you get access to EPIC, but do you get Sky Atlantic?
Sorry to hear the back still bothers you, cannot the doctors help you? There are also exercises that you can do to relieve your back, I have one with laying on the floor prone on my belly and also stretching your back like a cat helps a lot depending on what kind of problem you exactly have. But sometimes ibuprofen is the only thing that helps me as well after a few days. I did relieve most of the back pain after I stopped sleeping on my stomach. I do stretching each morning of course for the back.
DeleteYes, they like to kill animals and stunt performers in USA too on the sets. Those two are endangered species when it comes to movie and TV sets. Especially if Alec Baldwin the Idiot is around.
I have never really ventured into GJ as I cannot stand Surrane Jones, I find her acting phonie and fake like with Claire Foy and Olivia Coleman. And there is Sofie Rundle in it too and you know my feelings about her LOL
No, I think you can only access Prime Video, not the other subchannels, so no PBS. Even HBO is only now getting here as a streamer, before we had HBO cable channel but only if you pay more to your cable provider No, we do not have Sky. Epic Drama is also on cable and so are a few Fox channels. But their programmes are not the same as in USA. We have a lot of domestic services and channels aimed mostly for mobile phones and often hosted by mobile providers. They actually shoot most of the domestic series for them.

DeleteI thought we didn’t believe in doctors Gattocito. Jokes aside, I heard such horror stories regarding the medical profession this week… My problem is that with all the coughing I did during the Covid-that-was-not-Covid I twisted a muscle on my back. It’s a vulnerable area, because in 2004 (when I still believed in doctors) a neurosurgeon f—d up my back during a spinal tap. I have to be weary of Ibuprofen and most anti-inflammatories since I suffer from kidney stones and an ulcer. Then, my Beta Lore told me to take Naproxen, it lasts twelve hours. It took six hours to kick off, but I have been able to move and do things for almost twenty hours.
DeleteI wonder why Amazon got the idea of being a carrier of streamers. Hulu does the same thing but in a smaller scale.
Suranne Jones, oh what a bitch! The Rundle creature provoked my repugnance in Peaky Blinders. I barely tolerated her in Bodyguard, here she was harmless enough, being thoroughly manipulated by Jack who was anything but a gentleman.
But there is ibuprofen in gel which you can put on your back, you don't have to drink it in form of tablets. And you defo must do exercises which would bring your back into place. Hope it passes soon, I hate back problems.

We haven't seen such beauty together on the screens before, methinks. Now if only they would match Chris and Cavill in a love movie. I've always believed that Chris wants Cavill, but Cavill is shy.
