SEE SHAWN MENDES AS LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE IN DELIGHTFUL LIVE ACTION ADAPTATION TRAILER! PBS MASTERPIECE MAKING MINI TV SERIES MISS AUSTEN ON JANE AUSTEN AND HER SISTER CASSANDRA

 PBS TO MAKE MISS AUSTEN
SERIES ON JANE AUSTEN'S LIFE
It will be a four episode mini series
PBS Masterpiece has announced that they will turn Gill Hornby's novel MISS AUSTEN into a four part mini series to be penned by Andrea Gibb. The book is Hornby’s third novel and centres on the lives and loves of Jane Austen and her sister Cassandra. It delves into why Cassandra burned a treasure trove of letters written by her sister, Jane – an act of destruction that has troubled academics and Austen fans for centuries. It will be a moving, revealing and often hilarious story of love, loss and sisterhood! Hornby's latest Regency novel Godmersham Park is, meanwhile, out tomorrow, and it is about a governess who meets Jane Austen and becomes friends with her while working for her family.

  LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE
TRAILER WITH SHAWN MENDES
And it is the cutest thing you will see today: the first trailer for LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE live action movie adaptation which arrives October 7th with Shawn Mendes lending the voice to the main hero. When the Primm family moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle, a singing crocodile who loves baths, caviar, and great music, living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps, the Primm’s must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti (Javier Bardem), to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places, and there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality! The amazing The Greatest Showman team has written songs for this one as well.

  1. Don't know about Hornby, and I am not a fan of Jane Austen, and we don't have PBS. We just finished Netflix miniseries Stay Close...a rather entertaining drama.

    1. I cannot stand Austen either and I'm an English literature professor LOL Haven't watched Stay Close as I don't do homicide and cop shows unless some actor I really adore is in it and sometimes not even then.

  2. I just checked Amazon’s page of Hornby’s novel. The reader’s consensus is that it’s very dull. Why bother to adapt a boring book? They already made that mistake with Hotel Portofino.

    1. Why does that surprise you, Gatofilla, is there anything Austen related that isn't boring? LOL It will probably be dreadful like that Bronte Sisters series that we had a few years ago, but PBS does not make series often alone, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

  3. Gattocito, you are forcing me to out myself. Although I enjoy the adaptations, I’m not a fan of Aunt Jane’s writing. Now, she’s not as half as boring as George Eliot. But putting aside Austen herself, this is part of Austeniana, fan fiction dealing with the writer and her books. Hornby had every chance to inject something fun in her plot, apparently, she didn’t. But I’ll tell you what they’ll do to make it more riveting. Cassandra will be played by a Black actress, and a Hindu girl will play Jane. The secret harbored in the letters would be that they shared a passionate lesbian/incestual affair. So, they’ll pitch it to a particular public, and nobody loses.

    1. Whenever someone mentions George Elliot, it reminds me of my college literature professor who used to say that Elliot's contemporaries always said that she has the heart of a dove and a face of a horse LOL Cassandra will probably be lesbian too - was what a wanted to say before I read the end of your comment, lol

  4. I bet I can get Jason to watch Lyle with me. The girls tease him all the time about listening to Shawn Mendes music a lot. It’s not his typical genre, but he really is drawn to Shawn’s music for some reason.

    1. Lyle, Lyle looks so cute! I hope it won't start the trend of parents buying their kids baby gators as pets. I like Shawn too, probably more his older songs than the newer ones. He ruined himself quite a bit in that fake relationship with that awful Latina lass.

    2. Yes, the older songs were better. I don’t think anyone will be buying gators for their kids. Those suckers are not to be messed with. Just read about a man mowing grass near a pond that got chomped to death by one recently!

  5. Yes, yes, yessss to Miss Austen. Why do you think her sister burned the letters??? We need a Dezzy history lesson today. :)

I have one of the original Lyle, Lyle Crocodile books that was signed by the author. Antonio thinks it's such a treat when I take it down to read him. He'd love this movie!
