CONNIE NIELSEN TO LEAD
KAREN BLIXEN TV SERIES
We have been mentioning her often lately, first for The Pact movie that follows later years in the life of famous Danish writer Karen Blixen, and then
Connie Nielsen will take the lead role
because her book Ehrengard will be turned into a movie, but now we have news that after Meryl Streep who played her in Out of Africa, now Connie Nielsen will play Karen Blixen in six part mini TV series THE DREAMER - BECOMING KAREN BLIXEN for Nordic streamer Viaplay. The series which has been shot already and is now, as Screen Daily reports, in post production, has the story set in the 1930s, and follows the author’s return to Denmark after many years in East Africa. Penniless, sick and divorced, the series depicts her journey from this point to becoming a renowned writer. The series will air next year and will be sold internationally as well.

I watched first two episodes and gave up when I realized they will glamourize them. Like in the first episode they are raping and pillaging some English village and in the next one they are portrayed as some kind of sexy heroes. Like what the what?
Yeah, I think that's why I never watched it. I remember you saying that it was glorifying their barbaric traits. The same with Game of Thrones. Though I did just finish reading the series and the tv show must be a lot worse in that respect than in the books. I mean, there is a little bit of rape and a little bit of sex and quite a bit of violence, but I was expecting something completely off the wall with the way everyone was talking about the show. Honestly, I thought the books were so fecking boring, it took me 3 times as long to read them as any other book because they just weren't that good. Too many characters to keep up with and he'll talk about one character like they are the most important one in the story, then you won't hear about them again for another book or two. By then, I've done lost track of who the hell they even were in the story line. Idk how these books garnered so many fans that they made a show from them, but I suppose you can polish a turd and pass it off for entertainment these days and the masses will eat it right up.
Don't you remember that PACT movie about her that I presented recently, you have the link above in the article. She chased some hot young poet when she was decrepit old crone and wanted to take him away from his young wife and child.

Yeeeh, this is going to be a good winter to stay in bed watching tv. The Gilded Age and Valhallah in February, sounds great.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about Valhalla, I've missed my boo Leo and my boo Oakes so much!
DeleteKaren Blixen sounds like it's right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteI never did watch Vikings, though I know it was popular amongst some of my facebook friends there for awhile.

DeleteHe is a terrible writer, always was and will be. And the series was terrible too, I watched only the first five seasons and even that was a torture.
DeleteKaren Blixen for the win today! I love a good success story.
ReplyDeleteHere life was sort of a sad flop in the end LOL
DeleteReally? Now I kind of want to watch it more to see what happened..
