I did say many times that in these times of woke hardships, European studios will be the ones to save the period set genre and next to a slate of German, Russian and Italian costume series we now have another one coming

barely 14 years old when she left Austria and her mother empress Maria Theresa to marry the Dauphin in France. Speaking of French costume drama, check out the first clip from new French period set movie LOST ILLUSIONS which has premiered over at

Venice Film Festival with rather rave reviews. Xavier Giannoli directed the 19th century set big screen adaptation of Honoré de Balzac's novel with the cast that includes Gerard Depardieu, Xavier Dollan, Cecile de France, and Vincent Lacoste. Benjamin Voisin plays Lucien de Rubempré, a young, lower class poet, who is madly in love with the baroness Louise de Bargeton. The risk of scandal forces them to flee to Paris where they hope to live and love freely. Lucien soon finds rejection and loses the baroness’s support. 2. I didn't know that! I always just assumed it was a last name and a brand of chicken. After googling it, I realized it means "lost". It may be fitting for her.. LOL

  4. I do like a good French film, but Lost Illusions failed to draw me in with that trailer. With the good reviews though, I may have to give it a longer look later.

    1. You did not like the clip? I thought it was very interesting, it is about journalists as the origins of fake news even back in the 19th century.

    2. I just kind of felt bored with it. I'll need a longer clip to determine if I'm going to add it to my watch list. It is true though what they say. The more things change, the more they say the same. Fake news has been around since the dawn of time.

    3. Just remember witches who were burnt at stakes due to fake news LOL

    4. True. And I think I heard they couldn't even have pockets in their clothing because that meant they were carrying around witchcraft items. I totally would have been burnt at the stake. I love me some pockets. I'll even roll up tomatoes in my shirt like a pocket if I notice they need to come off the vine and I've forgotten my basket while I'm watering the garden. ohhhh, the scandal I would have caused showing some belly to the neighbors LOL.

    5. It was enough to just be a woman and have a male friend, and that was it - you were a witch LOL Not that today's public lynchings by libtards are any different... I've been following the Texas abortion law situation and watching how libtards lynch everyone who supports it / are they even freaking sane? It allows for abortions till six weeks until you hear the heartbeat, how you can support abortion after that??? Killing your own freaking child, geezuz. It is just beyond me what goes in their sick minds.

    6. I've always voted down the middle. Some elections republican and some democrat, but The last 5 years of liberal nonsense has me wanting to just stick with republican votes. They scream and stomp until they get their way, but a lot of their policies are running the country into the ground. I won't be surprised when China takes over as the new world leader and we're all speaking Chinese. Then the whiners will finally know what true oppression is. Sadly, the rest of us will have to suffer right along with them at that point.

    7. Fingers crossed we don't all end up China LOL but as much as we joke about it, my country has already been sold to China as it is our dictator's way to keep his international support. He sold everything to the Chinese and now they open factories here with government money and then turn workers into slaves, they don't even let them go to pee, imagine that. And all of their factories pollute nature like crazy, we actually have a massive protest against one of our mountains being sold to them for mining and turning what is probably Europe's last country with untouched nature into a toxic poison hole. There are also rumours that they will turn us and Hungary into massive camps for all the asylum seekers from Afganistan as Europe does not want them. It is ridiculous as we are the only country that never had foreign missions there and took part in destroying Middle East.

    8. It doesn't surprise me that your country has sold out to China. We're slowly doing the same here. It's sickening how a few politicians have sold out most of the human population to China. And how they released a deadly virus on a global level without any repercussions is mind boggling. Jason's company does a lot of business with them and I don't know why because they've been burned by them several times, to the tune of several hundreds of thousands of dollars. The people are quite lovely though, and I always enjoy their company when they visit. Though they are a bit too preoccupied with our military and have a fascination with guns that would rival any backwoods redneck hillbilly here LOL. It's their ruthless government and shady businessmen that are going to continue to wreck havoc on the entire world.

    9. There is just so many of them that they don't really care for lives of individuals. And that is how they behave here as well, pay their workers terribly, work them like slaves, make them wear diappers so that they wouldn't go to toilet... they just don't care. They are very scary.
