We are down in Australia today, starting with Acorn TV which has cast Brian Brown and Greta Scacchi as leads in their mystery drama series DARBY AND JOAN as two strangers trekking on the road in the Australian outback . The eight part series will see Brown playing a retired Australian

policeman with a dog as his only company and Scacchi as a widowed English nurse. The pair meet each other and embark together on an epic odyssey in the outback of northern Australia. It shines a light on isolated and often unseen areas of regional Australia, and a myriad of characters moving through a world where everyone seems to be searching for something – or trying to escape it.

IMDB has, meanwhile, picked up Australian TV series adaptation of Candice Fox' novel Crimson Lake titled TROPPO. Thomas Jane leads the series as Ted Conkaffey, an ex-cop falsely accused of committing a disturbing crime, who has escaped to hide away in the tropics of Far North Queensland. As he tries to avoid discovery, he’s drawn into investigating a wild murder and a missing person, alongside a complicated woman, with dark secrets of her own.

  1. We don't have many Australian TV series here...the only one I have ever watched was McLeod's Daughters...can't remember if I ever finished the whole series...it was just too lengthy for me. These both series sound interesting though.

  3. You know that I have a soft spot for Australian actors. I bet this one is good! I did giggle at "complicated woman". I mean, aren't we all? Just kidding!!

  4. Thomas Jane is such a masculine man. Used to enjoy his HBO show Hung back in the day. It was really good IMO! 😉
