From our spotlight on period set projects coming from France this year you already know that we can expect a series on Young Voltaire, Germinal and royal mistress Diane de Poitiers, and a film on Eiffel, but France is already planning projects for the future as well! One of them will be a new movie adaptation of THE THREE MUSKETEERS envisioned as a two movie saga coming from Pathe and director Martin Bourboulon. As Allocine reports, the films, which are to start with the shooting this summer for an early 2023 release, will focus on D'Artagnan and Milady in a story written by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière.

  4. Dumas was a prolific wrter and he had great novels besides these two. How come they are still making the same stories all over again?

    1. That also goes for why do they always make programmes about Elizabeth and Catherine the Great? My guess is that all the producers and actors want to be a Musketeer at least once in their careers and plus using a person that everybody knows is a form or a marketing in itself. It is horrible though, there are so many rulers they could cover. Dumas was, and that is interesting, not always a reliable writer as he often relied on legends and gossips in writing historical books instead of using historical facts. Historical evidence has, for example, refuted a lot of the things he wrote in his Queen Margo saga. Especially the incest and the way he depicted her mother Catherine de Medici who is, especially, one of the biggest historical victims of gossip. Most of the evidence proves that she wasn't really a poisoner and killer as they often depict her. She was more like the Catherine in Reign, a strong and cunning mother who fights to save the crown for her kids in a country ravaged by catholics and hugenots. This all being said, I totally hate Eva Green being milady, she is such a bad actress. Lana Turner is still milady for me. I think they should've given the role to Emannuelle Beart but she is probably too old now. Maybe to Olga Kyrulenko?

    1. No, it will be in French. They left Oliver as the last name in the list and I made a little screaming sound when I came to it :)

  6. The cast is definitely appealing, but at this point I am so over the retelling of the 3 Musketeers. I'm ready for new stories, thanks.

    1. Yes, nobody is original these days, especially as casting Eva as Milady is so unoriginal...
