DeleteI wouldn't be surprised if US movie theaters become a thing of the past. I've told you before that I find them ridiculously priced. For my whole family to go see (1) movie, it costs $80 +tax and that's without even a snack! Goalkeeper of the Galaxy isn't my favorite genre (plus I'd be dead and frozen in ice lol), but the graphics are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt is crazy, I think the prices in the more modern cinemas in our country are below 10 bucks for a movie, usually around $3 or 5 in smaller cinemas.
DeleteI agree with Jax. I have a feeling Cinema is not going to thrive here anymore since Covid. People are okay with buying the new releases to stream at home instead of heading to an overpriced cinema where movies and snacks for 4 can run up to 1/4 of a weekly paycheck.
ReplyDeleteIt is possible that this was/is the intention of big studios so that they don't have to share any money with the cinemas. They've already broken the window between the cinematic release and streaming which was the constant reason for fighting between them and theatre owners.
DeleteIt will be interesting to see what stays and what is going to be a thing of the past when this is all said and done. I have barely stepped foot inside a grocery store since all of this started, relying on curbside ordering instead. I do miss our 24 hour stores though. I feel like I'm in Europe again with everything closing early these days. No more late night food runs, or late night medicine runs if we need it. Everything is closed by 9pm here.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a late night run for anything in my life LOL I find shops working at night scary for the shop assistants themselves. Especially in your country with so many thugs and looters and robbers and other maniacs.
DeleteWe don't often need anything too late at night, but sometimes it's nice to be able to run into the grocers if we've been out late with friends to grab a snack or pick up something that we wouldn't want to have to leave the house for again in the morning. It's just nice knowing that the option was there if we ever needed it.
ReplyDeleteIt is, I'm sure, I cannot stand the countries which have shops closed on Sunday. Neighbouring Croatia has them closed so that people would be forced to go to church! I despise it when religion meddles with our daily lives.
