OPERATION BUFFALO starts tonight, Sunday, May 31st at Australian ABC.
Ewen Leslie, who is quickly becoming one of their busiest actors, leads the cast of the six part captivating drama, set in Maralinga, South Australia, at the height of the Cold War. pitted against each other. The series is done as a satire on that event.
Jessica De Gouw, James Cromwell, Benedict Wall and our dearest
Angus McLaren also star.
Most Of The Bad Things In The Series Really Did Happen
From 1956, over a period of seven years, the Brits detonated seven
nuclear bombs in South Australia, one of them was double the power of
the Hiroshima bomb, which killed almost 150,000 directly and indirectly.

Operation Buffalo is the fictionalisation of the first bomb test at
Maralinga and all the farcical political posturing and pressure
surrounding it. Major Leo Carmichael (
Ewen Leslie) is the
second-in-command at the Maralinga base, an engineer tasked to build the
towers from which the bombs are dropped.

Ambassador’s schedule, he faces challenges on multiple fronts
with a missing prostitute, publicity-mad politicians, the arrival of a
new meteorologist (
Jessica De Gouw) and an Indigenous family who
government policy says officially doesn’t exist.
Not my cup of tea so, I'll pass but wow, James Cromwell... He's still in the business. 😏 I remember watching him in that TV show Six Feet Under.

I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and we had some nuclear bomb testing here at Nevada Test Site back between the 50's and 1992. We actually have a museum about it all here. A movie about things like that are always interesting.
