series adaptation of DANGEROUS LIAISONS based on Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ 18th Century novel! Harriet Warner (The Alienist, Call the Midwife) will write and executive produce!

As 'Deadline' reports, it will follow the Marquise de Merteuil and
the Vicomte de Valmont, two narcissistic rivals and ex-lovers who use
seduction to control and exploit others. It explores the world of the
French aristocracy shortly before the French revolution. The series will
tell the origin story of the early years of both characters when they
meet as passionate young lovers in the slums of 18th century Paris. It
will be told from the perspective of Merteuil! The sweeping, sexy and
expensive eight part series will shoot in Czech Republic.
I see you don't mention names of actors. The movie as I remember had some famous performers: Glenn Close, Erica Pfeffer, John Malkewitz.
ReplyDeleteThe plot is rather complex with some incredible relationships, but the costumes and the dialogues compensate the viewers for that.
They still don't have the actors :) You mean Michelle Pfeiffer and John Malkovich. I must admit I've always preferred Valmont movie to Dangerous Liaisons.

ReplyDeleteWe might even see tons of naked ones too, Fran! But given that it will be done from a feminist point of view, I reckon there will be more naked male bums than boobs like in Harlots and Outlander.

ReplyDeleteLots of pearls and frills and feathers and silk and lace! It is interesting that underneath all that glitz they smelled like pigs as they did not bathe much, that is why they used so much powder to cover their faces and stench.
DeleteIsn’t that something? I’m not sure how they were able to procrate through the stench. Ain’t nobody touching me if I can smell anything pungent on them.
DeleteThey were tons of that led filled powder and back in the middle ages they used to carry oranges stuck with cloves everywhere with them or little satchels with dried flowers :) They also never washed their hair, but I hear hair actually loves that, you just need to brush it ten times a day.
DeleteI only wash mine once or twice a week, otherwise it gets really dry and brittle. Dry shampoo does wonders between washes. I think that's true of most girls with naturally curly hair. My friends with straight hair can wash theirs more frequently without causing much damage to their locks.
DeleteIt is understandable, especially as it takes hours for you girls to wash your hair... I don't know where you find the time! I sometimes don't have strength to stick my bald head under the tap LOL
DeleteSince 2014, there has been talk about this project. So Starz finally got it. Hope it is not as embarrassing as The Spanish Princess. There was also talk about Michelle Dockery playing Merteuil. I also favored "Valmont" over the Malkovich-Close version.
ReplyDeleteIt was originally a BBC project, but they opted out of it and Starz took it over :) Valmont was sooo good!
