CATS TRAILER WITH JUDI DENCH, IAN MCKELLEN, IDRIS ELBA, JASON DERULO AIN'T SOMETHING YOU'VE EVER SEEN BEFORE! PLUS NEW TRAILER AND PHOTOS FOR HIS DARK MATERIALS EPIC TV SERIES WITH JAMES MCAVOY

  'CATS' TRAILER WILL PROBABLY
SCARE THE HELL OUT OF YOU!
Cats will meow this December, literally!
Attention, spylings, we have a special broadcast today with fresh news and updates from Comic Con which is raging currently over in San Diego. The day brought us the very first trailer for the live action movie musical version of famous CATS and I don't know what to say, as someone said somewhere in comments it looks like stuff of nightmares with people in purrrfectly terrible masks of cats. And plus an annoyingly bad rendition of legendary song Memories by infamously overrated Jennifer Hudson. If it is any consolation, at least part of the cast is amazing (if you can get over the fact that Taylor Swift is in it as well): Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, Laurie Davidson, Jason Derulo, Rebel

Wilson, Idris Elba, James Corden, Ray Winstone, are just some of the better known names in the Tom Hooper directed musical which is out a few days before Christmas.

CATS THE MOVIE MUSICAL
Based on the book “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats” by T.S. Eliot, the musical follows the Jellicle cats, a family of felines who go before the group’s leader Old Deuteronomy to see who will be selected to travel to the Heaviside

  1. "His Dark Materials" looks very good -- and I'm glad to see the girl's role is played by the girl who was in "Logan." She's terrific.

And "Cats" -- jeez, I don't know. It's got a superlative cast but those costumes creep me right out.

  2. Cats will probably do well with the furry crowd. I know some furries that will probably be very excited by what they see. As for "His Dark Materials," I think I may watch. Things that are urban fantasy or closely associated with it have been wearing on me lately, but these Golden Compass stories might avoid that because there's just enough of a difference for my mind to switch over. It's why I prefer my fantasy set in a medieval world for the most part: there's enough of a break for me to totally get on bored and sucked in because nothing is familiar. When I see things that are familiar to me, it causes a momentary suspension of disbelief and me (more likely than not) just thinking, "Oh this is where the writer is trying to be clever again. I do dislike people patting themselves on the back at how clever they are."

    1. Cats do have the strongest followship over at Facebook :) although I kinda find this one an offence to feline species LOL
Mediaeval fantasy? I'm currently translating Anthony Ryan's three book epic saga Raven's Shadow for the readers in my country, you'd probably like it then!

  3. "Cats" for me is 'Memories', the song, both music and lyrics. The musical has about 15 songs, all memorable, but 'Memories' is what people will call 'a million dollar song'.
I also like the coreography in the show.
Apart from that, I don't know why it needs all those famous actors: Dench, Ian Mckellen, Elba.

    1. My favourite performance of Memories is by Nicole Scherzinger, she is probably the most famous and best Grizabella ever. Her rendition of Phantom of the Opera is also my fave of them all.

  4. Those cats do look pure creepy! Even so, I’m not one who cares for musicals, so I’ll probably not subject myself to the freak show and save myself from a few nightmares.
