Netflix has ordered a new Latino multicamera sitcom
THE EXPANDING UNIVERSE OF ASHLEY GARCIA, which will have
Jencarlos Canela leading the 16 episode season.
Created by Mario Lopez and Melissa & Joey producer Seth
Kurland, if revolves around Ashley Garcia (as Deadline reports, she will
be played by newcomer Paulina Chavez), the world’s only 15 and a half
year old robotics engineer and rocket scientist, who gets the chance to
work for NASA. She moves across the country to live with her fun loving
Uncle Victor (Jencarlos Canela), a pro football player turned high
school coach who’s never met a responsibility he can’t shirk.

This one has already finished its sail around most of the globe, but it will plunge into US and UK cinemas this June and July.
THE COMMAND (also known as Kursk) has an international cast lead by
Colin Firth, Matthias Schoenaerts, Max von Sydow and Lea Seydoux. Directed by
Thomas Vinterberg (
Far From the Madding Crowd) and based on a book by
Robert Moore, the film follows the 2000 K-141 Kursk submarine disaster and the governmental negligence that followed. As the sailors fight for survival, their families desperately battle political obstacles

They say the universe is indeed expanding and there'll be need for some new physics theories.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about expanding, but it seems the universe is changing. I'm not sure whether it'll make us laugh or cry. In the meantime, let's enjoy Colin Firth in the Kurks disaster acting performance.
We do live in the time of historical changes, sadly, I think most of them are for the worse :(
DeleteJencarlos Canela certainly is a cutie. I hope they don't make the robotics engineer geeky or quirky. I think we need more role models that our teen girls can look up to and less of the trashy girls they see on YouTube and Kardashians.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the photo of the actress that will be playing his niece and she's quite lovely, not geeky. I just hope she won't be an angry one because I hate that even more than trashiness :)

DeleteI've watched the first episode of FAM sitcom this weekend with my darling Tone Bell and mildly annoying Nina Dobrev. It wasn't bad, sad that CBS cancelled it after one season. I'm starting COOL KIDS soon too, when I finish Neighbourhood which was fun.
Delete"The Command" looks good but then again, I'll watch anything with Colin Firth in it. And jeez, how old is Max Von Sydow these days? He must be pushing 100 by now.
