PREMIUM SPOTLIGHT ON ELTON JOHN'S FANTASY MUSICAL ROCKETMAN WITH TARON EGERTON, RICHARD MADDEN, JAMIE BELL, BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD

  ELTON JOHN'S 'ROCKETMAN'
BASED ON A TRUE FANTASY!
The film opens May 16th at Cannes Film Festival
If, after watching last year's Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, you feel nostalgic for some more legendary music, do not despair, later this month Elton John's biopic ROCKETMAN will land into theatres near you, from May 24th directed by Rhapsody's Dexter Fletcher! It is not exactly a biopic, Elton calls it a sort of a movie of fantasy stories based around his greatest hits but it does also describe how he started writing some of world's biggest ever hits and how he developed his unique image enjoying love and fun along the way.
The film opens May 31st in USA, 22nd in UK

ROCKET MAN
tells the story of Elton John's life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin, as well as his struggles with depression, substance abuse, and acceptance of his sexual orientation. It is a musical fantasy about the fantastical human story of Elton John's breakthrough years.

WORLD'S FIRST R-RATED MUSICAL
The film is named after Elton's 1972 song
As you know, British actor Taron Egerton has been chosen to portray Elton himself (Justin Timberlake was the original choice), with our favourite Scotsman Richard Madden portraying his manager and lover John Reid (who was played by Aidan Gillen in Bohemian Rhapsody), and Jamie Bell as famous lyricist Taupin. Bryce Dallas Howard plays Elton's mother Sheila, with whom he did not always have the best of relationships. Charlie Rowe, Tate Donovan, Steven Mackintosh, Gemma Jones also star. Taron, who sings songs himself in the movie (he already sung Elton's I'm Still Standing in Sing animated movie), said that he was specially dedicated in portraying a very

intimate sex scene with Richard Madden, as it portrays an important part of Elton's life. The soundtrack contains 22 hits performed by the cast of the film and a new song (I'm Gonna) Love Me Again featuring Egerton and Elton.

  1. Wow! Gorgeous blue eyeglasses!

I understand he's been involved personally in the making of the movie, so no scandals available, I suppose.
He's also considered favorite singer and composer of the british royal family, so it can't be bad for the success of his fantasy biopic.
I've enjoyed the comprehensive and smooth trailer displayed in your post.

    1. I think he probably had like a million glasses in his life so far. It is nice that he is getting a movie while he is alive, most others never got to see their own biopics. He wrote such amazing songs in his career, Your Song from the trailer is one of my favourite legendary classics.

  3. I'm looking forward to this so much! I'm surprised that Taron Egerton did his own singing. I just assumed he must be lip syncing.

    1. No, I reported on it before, he is an amazing singer, remember the crooning gorilla in Sing! That was him! I did not really like Rami Malek as Freddy, to weird and unexpressive, hope Taron won't disappoint me.

  4. Every time I see this trailer, I get more and more excited to see the film. I'm glad that Elton had some input into the story line. He's had such an impressive life, it will be exciting to watch it play out on the big screen!

    1. Bohemian Rhapsody was OK, even tearjearking at times, but nothing overly stunning, A Star is Born was nothing special to me (I did not even like Gaga's acting as much as the public prepared me to) so I do expect a lot out of this one, especially as I like Elton's songs and lyrics, and the actors are nice. Should be fun, hope it won't look too much like Rhapsody, I'd like something more like Moulin Rouge.

    2. I didn't watch A Star is Born, though everyone keeps talking about how wonderful it is.

I am not an overly huge fan of Elton John's, but I think with the kind of life he's led, the story line will keep me entertained enough, so I am definitely going to make time to see it.

    3. Yes, everyone was in love with Gaga, so I had expectations, but she was OK but nothing special when it comes to acting, not Oscar worthy at all. Bradley was much better, I totally believed him as a drunk druggie rock star. That being said, Gaga is still gazillion times better than Beyonce.

    4. Fo' Sho! Give me Gaga over Beyonce any day of the week! I think they both need to stay out of acting though and just stick with what they know.

    5. True, speaking of Gaga, she looked horrible last night at Met Gala! They all did!

  5. I didn't like that Queen movie, though I love Queen. Maybe that's why I switched off the movie and watched Live Aid instead. So I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna like this flick either. It's like watching a cover band.

    1. It was mildly boring, mostly due to Rami who is just not expressive with those alien eyes of his.

    2. Exactly. Plus it was a chicken shit script. Pardon my Swedish.

    3. He mostly based his role on licking his fugly teeth...
