First trailer has been released for BBC's new six part series
SUMMER OF ROCKETS which,
set in the tumultuous year of 1957, follows a Russian Jewish family
living in Britain amid the fear and excitement of the nation’s first
Hydrogen Bomb test. The
cast includes
Keeley Hawes,Toby Stephens, Timothy Spall (as lord Arthur Wallington),
Linus Roache (who plays an MP, the husband of Keeley's character)!
Toby Stephens leads the cast as Samuel, a 40-year-old Russian Jewish émigré, inventor and designer of hearing aids whose clients include the
former Prime

Minister Sir Winston Churchill. He is approached by MI5 to
demonstrate his work but they actually want him to spy on his new
friends played by Keeley and Linus. The series should start May22nd on BBC2.

ReplyDeleteThe plot sounds quite interesting. However,I must admit that the cold war, testing of the bomb, MI5, russian-jewish immigrants - are not attractive enough for me to want to watch this series.
Did you know that Toby Smith is Maggy Smith's son and that Keeley Hawes is Matthew MacFadyen's wife?
DeleteI've never liked the cold war era either, Regan and Gorby were the first presidents I remember in my life.
I didn't know that, but then the name is not Smith but Stephens (probably his father's name).
