  'TOBOL' TRAILER
FROM THE TIME OF PETER I
The movie should hit cinemas next month
Since Hollywood is still celebrating Thanksgiving or recovering from Black Friday mania, your trusted spy will take you on a journey through time, deep into adventurous past and straight into brave old Russia in our Russian Weekend! We will start it with sweeping historical epic movie TOBOL (Тобол) which should arrive into Russian cinemas sometime next year. This epic adventure will take us back into the time of Peter I, with the plot based on real events from rich history of Russia.

MANY ARE CALLED, BUT ONLY FEW ARE CHOSEN!
The movie will see Russian star Ilya Malanin playing Ivan Demarin, a young officer of tsar Peter I’s First Guard, who, on the instructions of the great tsar, finds himself in the depths of frozen Siberia in the frontier city of Tobolsk. Here Ivan meets his first love and, together with his regiment, finds himself drawn into the conspiracy of local princes, who are hunting for gold in the Yarkand river. Its fortress is surrounded by hordes of wild Dzungars and there’s no way to wait for help!

  'BLOODY MISTRESS'
RUSSIA'S ELIZABETH BATHORY
The 15 episode saga already aired in Russia
Another interesting historical project coming from Russia was epic TV series BLOODY MISTRESS (Krovavaya Barinya) which aired earlier this year on their national television,  based on the biography of XVIII century landowner Darya Saltykova who lived during the rule of Catherine II. Yuliya Snigir plays the baronnes who was called Saltychikha by her serfs. She was infamous for brutally torturing hundreds of peasants, for which "Russian Elizabeth Bathory" was imprisoned in an underground prison, where she spent 33 years until her death. The series
Svevolod Sokolovskiy plays the male lead in the series!
tells how a young girl who was brought up in a monastery turned into a monster? Catherine the Great, whom Yuliya Snigir herself played in one of the recent epic TV series, is played here by Severija Janusauskaite! The male lead is played by Svevolod Sokolovskiy.

  2. "Tobul" sounds like a captivating adventure drama with fierce battle scenes, cold siberian landscapes, and love.

The "Bloody mistress" is too bloody for me to watch, but I'm sure the acting is impecable.

  3. I would just wish for death instead of living a life in an underground prison for 33 years :(

I agree with the others that Tobol sounds really good.

    1. but she did deserve it, the wretched witch! Catherine did it for purpose, to punish her, because a simple death would not do the task. I think she was buried underground with just a hole for food. Turkish sultans used to put their brothers or uncles in such walled up rooms leaving them there for decades sometimes.

    2. Deserved or not, I'd still pray for death daily. I feel so zapped when we go a few days without sunshine here. Living for years underground would drive me insane!

    3. I hear a snow storm is brewing North West from you, and that many have been left stranded unable to return home from Thanksgiving. Hope it won't reach you. We are supposed to have stormy winds tomorrow and then zero temps from then on after a whole week of ugly rain that we are currently suffering through.

    4. Yes, it hit our area, but it wasn't too horrible. The roads weren't cleared even though they had plenty of warning to get out there and salt them, so they had to cancel school because the buses couldn't get down some streets. Allison was very upset because this is the final week to rehearse for the play she's in (Cinderella, but just as ensemble this round) so tonight they are running through twice. It's almost 11pm and she still isn't home. Been gone since 8:30 this morning :( Opening night is Thursday and ends on Sunday. I cannot wait for this stupid play to be over with. She hasn't been home but to sleep and shower in 2 months!

    5. Our services are always unprepared for the snow as well, even when the forecast announces it weeks in advance. Some people do like to just sit on their arse. Poor Ally, hope she got the role she wanted at least! So you was basically childless for two months, right? How did that feel? :)

    6. It's been an adjustment, but I think it's really helping Jason and I slowly get a feel for what it will be like to be empty nesters. I sometimes feel a bit sad that I don't have little kids running around anymore, especially during the holidays when they used to get excited for Santa or Elf on the Shelf, or eagerness to drive around and see the holiday lights, but then a friend will stop by with her kids and I think "Thank Baby Jesus I don't have to deal with that anymore!" lol. We have it timed where the dogs will be passing away around the time she graduates from high school, so we'll be more free to do adult travels instead of sticking with kid friendly places, and I'm really looking forward to that.

    7. Well, you can always adopt me, I do love me Christmas lights and I'm getting old so changing diapers might be on the programme too soon like with other lil' kids LOL ... hope not :)
We do hate other peoples' kids, they're all horrible when they not one's own when you required by law to tolerate them :)

    8. You said it, brother! I would rather be trapped in a room full of spiders than other people's kids lol

  4. Ah everyone is wearing brand new outfits again.... And other people's kids make me sick.
